I would be if we could customize a character and choose from every available D&D class. Instead Daggerdale is stuck with 4 generic "heroes" in a bare minimum RPG experience. I don't care that it's focused on action but taking away customization from a D&D game is lazy.

As a big fan of d&d,  i can't say that i'm too interested.     Combat in d&d games should be about tactics, planning and dice rolls, not a mindless hack-n-slash action game.

I have to agree - the trailer doesn't look very interesting, especially considering this is an official D&D licensed product.

It looks like a bad "Dark Alliance" wannabe. I do not mind character creation limitations in action games. In my mind Daggerdale is not an RPG at all. It is also woefully uninspired. I rather stick to my original plan of buying "Dungeon Siege III" next month. Anyone who cannot wait that long would be better off buying "Hunted: The Demon's Forge" instead.

Meh. Too many mediocre hack 'n slash games coming out the coming months. I'm not really interested in Dungeon Siege III either, since they did away with the party based combat.

I'll just patiently wait for the next two sequels to Divinity II.

Pretty much nailed it.

This looks like DDO or worse....

DDO was mindless hack and slash? News to me. It is only slightly more combat oriented than "Neverwinter Nights". The only D&D to come anywhere near tabletop was "Temple of Elemental Evil". Of the Infinity Engine games, only the "Icewind Dale" titles required any real strategic planning. The BG series had all sorts of "I win" buttons to dominate combat; such as bows in the first game and cheesy spells like Melf's Minute Meteors in the second. As long as the player layered on buffs for tougher fights, it was trivially challenging.

I love the NWN games, but their difficulty is a complete joke if the player has any idea how to build an effective character. A powerbuilt PC is not even required to steamroll them with minimal thought to tactics. Only a handful of community modules and the odd PW require any real foresight and micromanagement. Considering DDO has buffs, debuffs, direct damage spells, death magic, summoning, mind affecting, battlefield control, stealth, melee feats, and various special class abilities, I do not see how it can be considered significantly more mindless. It is at most a different flavor of the same ice cream. Yes, there are added enhancements and feats, skills and abilities that do not work quite the same as tabletop. However, that is true of every computerized D&D game with the exception of ToEE. All of them are video-gamed in some fashion.

If one wanted to say DDO was mindless hack and slash because it had no role-playing or story, I could understand; but basing that on combat is fallacious. I cannot believe I just defended DDO. The rapture really is coming.

I just like to point out the game is only 15 dollars. What can you expect for that much. I mean it look pretty much like a Gauntlet Clone,  which are alway entertaining with some friends

I'm a fan of both D&D and the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, so I'd be willing to give it a shot. It looks like fun!

Hahah good lord. That looks terrible:l Void of innovation. It totally has that button-awesome connection going though.
Been far too long since we had remotely decent video game set in Forgotten Realms:l

You must admit, Daggerdale is a really great fantasy name. Just the right amount of cheese.

I look forward to "Bowston" and "Sea-Addled" in future D&D videogame settings.

I got a random email from Atari today telling me this game was released and I was all "wtf is this? A new D&D game I've never heard of? what is this all about? (5 minutes of research) ahhhh that is a shame" And went back to doing something else. I might pick it up in a bargain bin one day.

I ragequit that series after the *third game* where the hero appears to win but actually fails in the end. It's only a stunning plot twist the first time you do it.

Given the quality of BG: DA, I'd suggest its about the same level if not slightly better.

The 4E alterations are what causes me to hold off for now. Pls post your findings if you play, and hope you enjoy it.

I thought BG:DA was great for its time. I enjoyed it for what it was. Daggerdale's graphics look better, but its art style seems so uninspired. It reminds me more of D&D Heroes. The game is also set in 4e Forgotten Realms. I hate 4e Forgotten Realms. :P

I can forgive Ego Draconis as it was rushed out of the door due to the publisher. Dragon Knight Saga was what Larian had intended with Ego Draconis, and the ending of that game -in my mind- would be a 80% victory, 20% failure.

I highly doubt it's gonna be as good as Dark Alliance.   It is only a 15$ dowloadable game.

There are a lot better games you can get for $15. When Braid came out it was $15. Same with Super Meat Boy. The fact that it's only $15, doesn't excuse low quality.
