I wasn't a fan of Miranda and I kinda of blame the screen shots you get during conversation. Once I started to kind of like her then I would get a screen shot of her bum.

In my mind, my Shep never took her that seriously, because she likes to wave her a** in his face.

Miranda is the least sympathetic character I've seen in recent memory.

I don't like Jacob because he is black

Hahaha :lol::lol:    But I don't like him too and I can't help thinking the only reason Jacob was added to ME 2 at all was to keep it politically correct. There's nothing interesting or special about this awesomely boring character. He's there just because. No wonder he's the least popular.

Well there's no real character on the crew I'd say I hate. For the most part I like all of the characters to some extent.

That said Jack is the least likeable squadmate for me. Part of the problem is it's rather easy to stumble into a romance with her. The other thing is even though her past and stuff is pretty ****ed up I just find her a bit petty and childish in some ways. If she had been a punk more for it's own sake I probably could have gone with that, but really she sort of comes off as little more then the rebellious teenager.

I've never been able to appreciate Miranda that much either. There just isn't much exposition with her other then that she has some sort of feud with her father and she's genetically perfect. There's no other stories from her or explanation as to who she is. Which makes it difficult for me to see as anything more then the token "hot chick" with daddy issues.

I like Grunt, but actually speaking to him feels pointless. I just figured Grunt would ask more questions given how much of FNG he is. Instead he just talks about killing things. It strikes me as odd that he has no issue of conscience really over being born in a tank.

They missed an opportunity to create a surrogate father/mother and son relationship between him and Shep.

I like Miranda, but I have to agree on the overdone screenshots. It was shameless fan service. I wish Bioware would treat her character and their audience in a more mature fashion.

I think he did, for awhile there at the beginning, what with his lines in that first conversation, "I'm built for strength but didn't earn it" and "The perfect krogan, ignoring what made me..no strength in that".  And, I mean, most of his development, insofar as he actually needs any, is about him figuring out his own personality after being "born" straight from the tank.

I wouldn't say that I 'Hated" anyone in either ME game. I liked all of them in their own way, and some of them did bug me a bit, but other then than, I liked the cast as a whole.

I don't find the broody emo types appealing at all and when I found out that he was designed by asking the women at Bioware what they found sexy, I did have a moment of wanting to raid the offices to find proof of Twilight or Anita Blake fans.

Did they really do that? Interesting. Why not ask the people on the forum what they find sexy? I'm sure many would be eager to assist. For example, I cannot bring myself to date underlings.

Here's one article about it. http://www.gameinfor...n-of-thane.aspx.  I know there's more around somewhere but can't find them at the moment.

I know it was probably easier for them to just go with a small group of opinions, but for those of us who aren't the 'gigglesquee!!1!' types and who've long since outgrown the broody mr. mysterious, it's eyeroll fodder.

That was very interesting to read. Thank you.

There are only two characters I dislike: Miranda and Samara. I find Miranda's personality to be absolutely unbearable. I can't stand people who are egotistical in real life, and she acts so full of herself from the moment you meet her.

While I don't find Samara to be as irritating, I think her rational for doing the right thing is horrible (her "code"). Before you meet her, she does things solely due to her code, not because she necessarily believes it's the right thing to do. For example, she was completely willing to kill the cop on Illium simply because she was in her way. I guess it just bothers me that she's not really her own person; just someone who enforces a code. I want someone on my squad who believes that their opinion matters.

I do think Samara does more good than bad, being a justicar and all, but her reasoning just irritates me to no end. I like all the other characters, though. I didn't like Jack for awhile, but she grew on me.

racist?  maybe
closet? no

she is openly vocal of her opinions on the other aliens being inside the alliance ship (normandy). but if you talk to her more and learn on her story, there are strong reasons for her feelings. mainly stemming from her father and his military career. i wouldnt say she is RACIST, so much as timid/untrusting of the aliens, and understandably so if you know the scoop on her family. personally i love ash and she is always with me on missions, nice to have a fellow "earth-clan."

Ashley is not racist, she brings up legitimate security concerns,  I know I wouldn't want foreign nationals to have access to some of my country's most sensitive military equipment, and her complaints about the council races are political not social.

Hey, I'm going to pretty much sum up the next hundred pages of this thread.

I dislike your favourite character.

Yes, that's right. The character that it just gets under your skin that somebody, ANYBODY, can hate them. You have to be right all the time, pointing out the good parts about your character and squashing the bad bits

I also ignore everything that great, well done, well written or emotionally interesting about your character. I will reduce your character down to a few base points. Racist, boring, bland, too violent, not violent enough, not real, tried to be too real, fanservice, ugly, no fanbase, too much fanbase,

I will point out all the 'totally unrealistic' things about the Mass Effect universe. Things that SO didn't agree with how you think the ME universe should happen. I will clamour for the deaths of all your favourite characters that I hate. I will state how much I bitterly resent being forced to have them on my team and proclaim my intention to leave them behind to die on my next playthrough.

Instead of becoming immersed in the gaming world, choosing characters to go on missions that suit their skills, I will ruin the game for myself by only taking the same two characters on every mission, over and over again. I will attempt to ruin it for everyone else by trolling your supporters, putting you down, making you feel bad because you like a certain character and no one else does.

I think I've gotten my message across.

I don't mind when people criticize my two favorite characters (Ashley & Liara), it can be nice to see differing opinions.  They can sometimes be hard to find when they're only being discussed by people fond of the characters.  As for the same two companions all the time thing, ME2 may not do it but in ME1 they encourage the player to do just that with achievements.  Not that everyone cares about achievements, but there it is.

To be more on topic, I don't like Miranda.  My first play through I was pleased to see that she was going to join the team.  I love the more ruthless characters, and her cold demeanor was spectacular.  I thought my Shepard had found a rival, someone who would be fun to argue with (like Udina or the Turian Councilor).  Then I got to the first conversation in her office, where she is suddenly very nice and respectful.  It was very disappointing, and she just got softer and softer towards Shepard as the game went on.  The change seemed very artificial to me, I understand that she is a potential LI and all that, but it was just too abrupt.

the only character I don't like is Zaeed for his me first attitude and him letting civilians die. I'm overly critical of Tali and Garrus because their popularity has stunted their growth as people. Tehy refuse to leave shepard's side to become leaders for their people (tali's being begged to fill her father's spot on the admiralty board if she isnt' exiled and the evidence isn't released) but they both remain under sheaprd because their fans will riot if they aren't squadmates. Every Swuadmate form ME1 is doing something important: Wrex is uniting the Krogan, Liara's the Shadow Broker and Ashley and Kaidan are Spectre's. what of Garrus and Tali? Shepard's underlings. There's a reason garrus's dossier says "Will never each full potential if he continues to serve under Shepard" it should say the same for Tali.

I never liked Miranda even when she started being more polite toward Shepard, she was still cold ruthless shrew to everybody else.  During her confrontation with Jack when she said "but clearly you were a mistake"  part of me wanted to help Jack wipe that smug look off of Miranda's face.  She also wanted to hand over veetor to cerberus to be interrogated (that never goes well for the person being interrogated, fortunatly even my renegades havn't been big enough dicks to hand Veetor over to cerberus), she always made excuses for cerberus's crap or went into complete denial.  I honestly don't see how people could like her.  If you Miranda fans like her that is fine but I just don't get it.
