ErfUtil is a console program intended to allow automated processes to unpack ERFs, or to package files up into ERFs. ERF creation and unpacking are supported for both NWN1-style (ERF v1.0) and NWN2-style (ERF v1.1) ERFs and ERF-derived file formats.
The program exits with exit code zero on success, else a non-zero exit code on failure.
Source code will be made available with the next NWN2 Datafile Accessor Library release.
Run ErfUtil -? from a console window for detailed help:
Encapsulated Resource File (ERF) maintenance utility v1.0.0.20. Built May 25 2011 00:57:09. ErfUtil [-r ErfFileName] [-c ErfFileName] [-a File] [-d Dir] [-x] [-1] [-l] [-q] [-z files...] -1 Assumes NWN1-format ERF files (default is NWN2). -a File Adds file(s) to the ERF being constructed. Duplicate files are accepted but strongly discouraged. -c ErfFileName Creates a new ERF with name ErfFileName. -d Dir Adds the contents of a directory tree to the ERF. -l List all files present in resource containers that were named with -r. -q Silences most messages. -r ResFileName Add the contents of the given resource container to the new ERF. -x Extract the contents of all resource containers named via the -r option. -z files... Treat the remainder of the command line as a list of files to add. Wildcards are supported. The -r option may also be used with .zip, files, NWN1-style .key files, and directory trees in addition to ERF-derived files (MOD, HAK, etc). Multiple files may be specified with -r, in which case the last file added takes priority.
