I just reinstalled Mass Effect 2 on my PC (windows xp reinstall), but now I seem to have lost all my previous exploits (3 characters completed all missions). Can this be true, have I lost all ?

If the characters isn't in the Bioware/Mass Effect 2/Save folder and you haven't got a backup on those files; yes, you have lost your files. Otherwise if you got the files there is just an reading issue which probably can be solved
