I'd say Flemeth

I'd say the archdemon.

Flemeth doesn't move, while the archdemon can fly around the battlefield, and has a bigger arsenal of attacks to pick from. I'm not sure Flemeth could even win against the High Dragon.

Well, Flemeth isn't a Grey Warden, so she can't kill it permanently.

Then again, Flemeth doesn't seem to stay dead, either.

So I guess they'd just take turns killing each other and waiting for respawn?

Are we counting the darkspawn that the archdemon commands?

Flemeth has less room on the map to move around on is why. In DAII she is pretty dang tough.

She can always take a younger vessel, seduce a grey warden, get knocked up, use her magic, then slay the archdemon. And boom.

It's been confirmed that the Dark Ritual wasn't meant to allow anybody to slay the Archdemon; a Grey Warden is still supposed to strike the final blow. No, I don't have the quote handy; it's a David Gaider quote and it's probably buried in the 'Fanfiction Sucks" thread somewhere, requoted from wherever it first appeared.

She could join the Wardens, I suppose, or have a daughter join and then possess the daughter... but if we're going that far afield, I'd say we've *already* seen Flemeth vs. Archdemon and Flemeth won. She saved the Grey Wardens and put them on the path that got Archie killed.

Let's also not forget that Flemeth has a slew of unnaturally powerful magics that do can things to and about darkspawn that nobody else knows. The Darkspawn wards on her hut and the OGB Dark Ritual(I don't see what's so dark about it. You have sex, conceive a child, and apparently when the Archie is slain it's soul gets pulled into the embryo by magic before it gets a natural soul of its own.) probably aren't the only darkspawn related spells that she has. Not to mention how she can kill a darkspawn with her mouth in dragon form and not become infected by the taint.

Face it, that old broad has more tricks up her sleeve than she is showing.

Flemeth does say in the game that even she, for all of her power, could not survive the Blight. Oh, I'm sure she could inflict a world of hurt on the Archdemon and its darkspawn minions but, in the end, they'd triumph.

Flemeth also said in that conversation that she was just an old woman who knew a little magic. Plus, saying "she wouldn't survive the Blight" was likely including all the surface darkspawn, and not just the Archdemon.

Depends on what Flemeth really is, which considering her annoyingly badass and brief reappearance in DA2 (big spoilers there!), might become one of the bigger mysteries of the series. Certainly seems that Flemeth might become a really major Dragon Age villain.

If she's a run of the mill abomination who happens to have survived for many centuries due to an unorthodox method of prolonging her life and as such has become a really powerful demon/mage, she'd probably lose.

Some have theorized that she's an old god herself, or possessed by one, but I think this is unlikely unless the normal old gods are opposed to what archdemons do (after all, the darkspawn are said to "corrupt" the old gods.) Would be weird if she has an special Old God connection considering her helping the Warden end the Blight.

What I think is most likely is that she is an special kind of (blood) mage that is somehow connected either to particularly many/powerful demons or some other magical creature. But I don't think she's possessed, because Flemeth has shown a lot of self-control in surviving in hiding for centuries, and she doesn't act like a demon (every possessed being/demon we've seen have acted strange and offered deals etc, but Flemeth at least acts like a human, if a twisted one.) In that case, I think she could very well be more powerful than an archdemon depending on what deals/powers she has attained.

As for "not surviving the Blight" I think Flemeth just doesn't want to see the world in ruins, cause that would be boring/make her existence pointless (i.e she's not worried about the Archdemon seeking her out personally or a bunch of Hurlock Alphas raiding her hut, but rather everything around her being turned lifeless by the Blight, leaving her without future hosts, anything to enjoy etc)

Likely the dark stuff happens during the sex (evil spirits summoned to ensure that conception is taking place?) or while preparing the ritual (sacrifices, blood smearing, posion apple making? etc etc whatever).

Seeing as Morrigan is so sure that she will concieve makes it obvious that something more than just sex is involved. Conception isn't exactly a certain thing when you have sex anyway, and with a Warden it's even less likely.

I'm suddenly reminded of that conversation in the Crown and Lion between those two drunks. "Who would win in a fight between Andraste and the Archdemon?" I recall them saying something to the effect of "The archdemon would win. If Andraste called the Maker, she'd be a cheater. Are you calling Andraste a cheater?"
