Hmmm, interesting topic. What do I think of When I think of spaceships?

For me probably goes:

1) The Outrider - from Star Wars Shadows of the Empire (just stuck with me for some reason)
2) X-Wings - Star Wars
3) Tie Fighters - Star Wars
4) Battlestar Galactica -BSG
5) The Enterprise - TNG
6) The Mandalorean Fighters - 5th Element
7) Vipers - BSG
8) The Bebop - Cowboy Bebop
9) The Crusiers from Starship Ttooper for some reason
10) The Nebulon B class Frigate - Star Wars

And those are the first 10 images that "popped in there" when I think of spaceships. Mind you, I played a lot of X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and X-Wing Versus Tie fighter as a kid. As well as Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron etc. That Nebulon B is a distinct memory of one mission from the original Xwing where you have to defend a convoy and the medical frigat can't get out of there and you end up having to destroy a freaking Star Destroyer by yourself. It's stupidly hard and must have tried it a hundred times before I finally beat it.

I'm glad to see people listing the Discovery 1. Hard sci-fi gets so little love :(

I guess, people mostly pay attention to what's inside the ship (read: HAL) than the ship itself.
That's if they don't choose to read the book instead, because the movie has too much landscape and crap floating in space.

There was never a Klingon BoP in the original Star Trek. Even the first movie showed battle cruisers. Klingon BoPs didn't show up until "Search for Spock."

The only BoP in the original series was Romulan.

Fixed!  D-7 Battlecruiser it is.

That's what I get from going from memory rather than hitting Wikipedia first. ^~ (And after I spent a while trawling trying to find if Hotblack's ship actually had a name)

sorry do not agree, the original series only ran for 3 series and even then the D7 cruiser did not feature that much

the Bird of Prey heavily featured in star trek 3 - 7 ( 7 being generations ) and was the main ship in The Voyage Home, where the D7 only had cameo's in motion picture, Undiscovered country and had about a 2 second clip in Wrath of Khan.

Must have been a sublininal image of a BoP in WoK. I don't recall one at all, at least not from memory.

Still, I feel a little let down they completely deprecated the D-7. I would have liked to think of the Klingon BoPs as submarines: few but effective, and the BCs as a mainstay of their navy.

Oh that's right. Now I remember, but I also remember Ally's Saavik being too emotional for a Vulcan(there's my nerd moment).

No love for the Borg Cube? It's certainly iconic enough for me! It's cubic just as the Death Star is round.

definitely.
love the SR-2 , it's elegant , although it looks a bit fragile. When it crashes on the Collector home world i always wonder " huh? how did it survive that " ...

the other i like best is Voyager ( ST ) , more than Enterprise even. I like its more compact look.
Death Star in SW.
Tardis , it's so quaint and sophisticated at the same time.

Voyager was a very good looking Ship, and I was very tempted to put it my list, but then I probebly could have an all Star trek list, and Voyager lacked the Iconic feel that Enterprise has.
