Since Cone of Cold requires you so sheath your weapon, do you still think its worth it for an arcane warrior?
Cone of Cold not good for Arcane Warriors?

I like my AW to pop off a couple of AOE spells at the beginning, then pull out her sword and go to hackin'. She doesn't have CoC, but that's not for any particular reason other than that Morrigan already has it.
Sometimes it might even be worth sheating the weapon in the middle of the fight, but generally I like using my weapons-sheathed spells at the start of the fight, then using weapons and unsheathed-weapon spells (e.g., heal) the rest of the way.

Sheathing your weapon shouldn't affect those choices, I'm going fire tree for my starting mage since as said above Morri is pre-specced into frost(though ya got to give her CoC, presumably on the first level-up). Although there is one instance that you won't be able to take her to a fight, assuming you take her period. If ya take Wynne CoC would work perfectly with her Stonefist, or even your own should you bother to go farther down the earth tree than rock armor. Works well in any case, coupled with another AoE or two you won't find much resistance should they live through such a hammering. Just take a step back and consider who you'll have for party members for the majority of the game and have them fill in what you find you'll be lacking.
Also consider that the less sustainables you need to run, the better i.e. Telekentic Weapons and such.

While Cone of Cold does take an extra second to fire off as an arcane warrior, because you are mixing it up in melee already, you dont have to maneuver your mage into the right spot to fire it off. You can usually fire CoC off without moving at all which all in all saves more time than the time it takes to sheathe your weapon.

Does anyone else just have their Arcane Warrior use a staff?
Also, if you use weapon swap, you can leave your alternate set empty, then just before you cast a spell, swap to it, so that you dont have to wait for them to sheath their weapons. Only on PC though I think.

I suppose you could use just a staff, but per whack another weapon of choice would be better unless your pulling stuff with it. Also perhaps for the damage buffs, still auto-staffing = lower damage IMO

I used a staff while I was waiting to level up the rest of the AW chain. Once I got all the AW abilities and became essentially invulnerable, a staff is a waste unless youre not running with combat magic or toggles on to still be an effective caster. In which case, though, why would you bother taking the rest of the AW chain?
As far as CoC, I never found the second or two you lose by shouldering a weapon to cast a spell to be at all telling with an AW. Being an AW is more about victory through invulnerability than any momentary lapse in DPS is going to really hamper you. And casting an opportunistic control spell is usually well worth it.

To get rid of the cast time you can just put your 2nd weapon set as a quiver of arrows so when you bring up your radial menu, you can do a quick weapon switch and cast without the sheathing delay

There are mods which remove sheath requirements, you might want to try any of them if you find constant sheath/redraw annoying.
