This question is more towards the developers of BG2. I see a lot of movies being polished up and remastered years after, and I would wonder if the same could be done for a great game like Baldur's Gate 2? Maybe have it work for windows vista and 7, as well as being able to run on higher resolution. A copy I bought several years ago ended up getting too scratched and unusable (after plenty of use (a month or two in pure gameplay) and several accidents), and after getting Vista, and later windows 7, I am certain that several issues could come up due to the newer computer programing if i buy another copy and try running it now. This game is truly a jewel in gaming even after all these years, even if it did pick up a bit of dust.
Will there ever be a resurrection or remastering?

It works in Vista and 7. I have it on 7 now. You just can't install it in C:\\Program Files (x86). Make a directory called :C\\Games, and have it install into that folder instead. The reason is that Vista and 7 hide a lot of files in Program Files (x86), making BG2 and a lot of pre-Vista games crash (because it cannot find the file to load, etc.). Install it into C:\\Games, then after it is installed, go in and give administrator rights to all the .exe files, and make them compatible with Windows XP (SP2).
And I doubt they will ever touch the game again. As much as a lot of people wanted a remake, it's tied up in a lot of legal mumbo jumbo.

The Witcher 1 is flawed, but interesting. A bit reminiscent of the Gothic games. If you enjoyed those, you'll probably enjoy the Witcher too. No idea about The Witcher 2.

There have been attempts by fans to import BG2 into other game engines. NWN1, NWN2, and most recently Dragon Age. None of them have made it very far. The game is just too huge.
