Hey, having three issues:

1) Having to log into EA every time – but I am not the only
one with that issue , and it’s only a minor hassle in the grand scheme.

2) After downloading DLC (Overlord Pack and Kasumi, I am bit
behind the curve…) I have developed a FPS. Since I have had the game I have had
no issues, however now it lags noticeably. This starts almost instantly each
time I load the game. After downloading and reinstalling the 1.02 patch it
seemed to clear up just slightly when I load a game.

- The lag also includes during cut screens

3) After downloading the DLC (see above) I am no longer able
to select/interact with objects/doors/NPCs, or I have to position the camera at
extreme/bizarre angles before I am able (if I am fast enough) to select the
object. Doors are impossible and required me to restart the game before I can
attempt again. When I do get the “correct” angle, it only flashes blue for a
minute.

- Exception appears to be if I get into the room with
Kasumi, I can interact with her (not the objects in the room though) with ease.

I have not modded the game in anyway.

Tech info:

Intel Core i5 CPU M430 @ 2.27 GHz /  clock speed: 2257 MHz / RAM 3.86 GB

Display Adapter: NVidia GeForce GTS 360M / VRM 1.00 GB

Sound adapter: speakers (high definition audio device)*

MS Windows 7 - Home Premium.

*just quoting the config box, I am using Realtek HD audio
output.

[edit:  notcied some junk on the top of the post that was not suppose to be there]

1) Contact EA to sort out the login problem. Not saying they can fix it, but its got nothing to do with your PC, game, or connection. The problem exists at their end.
2 and 3 are related. The targetting reticule has a direct relation to FPS. You havent given any indication of what driver revision yuo are running, so cant give any advise as to upgrading or rolling back.

You are also running a mobility chipset, which tend not to be implemented into mainboards following any form of standard, as well as being very limited in terms of heat disipation. Quality varies greatly when it comes to paying the game on laptops.

As for the heat dissipation - got to love the burn on my finger from the system. Yet it is running no hotter than it did a week ago before the DLC was added.

As for the driver version had to actually use device manager
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M
Driver version: 8.17.11.9716

Device manager number means nothing. What is it in terms of nvidia driver release?
ie 258.96, 271.60 etc.

According to the NVIDA control panel (thank you by the way):
Driver version: 197.16
DirectX version: 11

Drivers are old, and that would be causing the lag. Try updating them to one of these versions, depending on your Windows version
64 bit:

Updated (64 bit version).

Sadly, no joy.

I was running Overlord as my test. The initial transmission when you land (asking you to retract the dish) was fine, no lag as I moved around, the second the transmission reached the end, it began to lag. I could not interact with either door past the lobby's downstairs inner door (the one that auto opens at your presence).

Could the DLC have something to do with it?

Also, Bogsnort1, thanks for the help so far. I appreciate it. And also thank you for your patience with me (especially with the links, I always have a hard time finding the driver updates).

The only way the DLC could be related to it, as far as i know, is that they may have higher resolution graphics in the DLC compared to the standard game.
All I can suggest for now is to try lowering thegraphics settings a bit, turn off motion blur, film grain and dynamic shadows, and see if that fixes it.

Another thing to try would be to download the latest driver for your realtek audio, as the default driver thath comes with Win7 is known to cause various problem.

You may want to see if you can find a heat monitoring program that will list the temps of your CPU but more importantly your GPU. If GPU starts getting too hot for any reason it will back down in power to try and save itself, thus a game will run ok then after a demanding scene or time elapses the FPS will drop as the GPU slows down to decrease heat.

Two other things to try are:
1) Reinstalling directX 9.0c as it may have been changed and causing an issue since directX11 isn't fully backwards compatible.
2) Reinstalling the 1.02 patch to see if something got changed in an ini file that may be repaired.

Bogsnort1, that driver was updated prior to any issue (I just checked to make sure). Thanks though on the link.

Mcsupersport, I updated directx to see if would fix the issue - meaning the issue began before the update. But I believe I was still running a copy of directX more recent than 9,0C. I Will go ahead and roll back to 9.0c later tonight and re-install the patch for the game and see how that does me. (Sadly, I can't do it right now.) Also, thank you for the ideas and help.

I will report back as soon as possible.

You never "Roll Back" with Direct 3D; it's all complimentary and totally compatible. The newer Dxes can end up stirring things around some, such that any time you update Dx10 / Dx11, there's some possibility that you'll have to reinstall Dx9.0c (rare situation).

What have you learned about the thermal markers showing up in-game? I like and use SpeedFan, for recording temps, not necessarily for altering fan speeds.

Well, heck, I wasn't being intentionally critical or negative there. Don't get me wrong on that (and don't bother apologizing all over again, it's all good). But there is a lot of difference between what you have to do with drivers when the newer ones aren't as good as older drivers, that's all I wanted to say (and the comment about Speedfan is the most important element within the message).

I just thought of something about my graphics card that may or may not relate to your issue, because I am running WinXP and not Win7. I have a Nividia 250gts card and have been having issues with the latest drivers running low FPS, as in single digits. I am currently running the beta driver that came out just before the last "official" driver because when I used the "official" released one my FPS was horrible. There had been some others slightly earlier that had the same issue, and since I had MSI monitoring found my GPU was running 1/4-1/2 speed almost like it wasn't trying to render anything. When I changed my driver back to earlier, or this latest beta then when the program started it kicked up and ran fine at full power. So you might try different drivers and see if any work, which would be a pain in the you know what especially if it didn't help.

Good luck.
