i really have to say that her story and ending, especially in particular, was epic... i got the same feeling from that game as i did from watching JJ abrams Star Trek.. i felt like the sheer impending epicness of every character and every person hanging on my shoulders... pff who wants a fairytale ending.....yet... i want the hope for the story to go on to be left for a little while...hanging.... waiting for the return of our adventures, for the potential reunion of her character and the pc, whatever that reunion Mr. Gaider has in store for us, i trust his writing and skill. people if you were captured by the rest of the story dont lose hope!!! for i know Mr Gaider's true persona......... the arl foreshadow himself!!!! the game is on!
Morrigan ending.. could have been much better.

I liked that Morrigan didn't explain herself. It is odd that every character is willing to explain their motivations and foreshadow their future. I refused to do the ritual with her becuase I do think it was her plan from the start, she knows a bunch she didn't tell, and then waited for your most vulnerable moment to spring it on you. She may be working with her mother, saving her own skin from her mother, or just wanted mom out of the way so she sent you after her. I just see every interaction with the woman as manipulation and often admits this is so. And if she did care about you or Ferelden she would fight the final battle and not disappear no matter what you decided.
I want to find out what happens, but am sort of afraid it will be in the sequel and that even without my cooperation she somehow managed it. That seemed like our most important decsion and I don't know of a good way for a writer to not take that away.

Morrigan's story is yet to be told and will be, I don't think they would make the next game without her in it and I see your PC being in it too, to what end they make the story might not be what everyone that hopes the PC and Morrigan get to live in a big white house with a white fence outside. I think you will have the option to be with her way on down the line but at what COST? I think Bioware will make that come at a great cost to be with her, you never know with Bioware, they give you the option to get her to love you and you put in all that work and then you make a choice, and knowing them it will be a evil one that you have to make to be with Morrigan, that would just put the cherry on top.
One thing I do know is this game was like a movie or book and I really didn't get half way into it before it was over and even I was like.......ok, now what?.........as I looked at the screen when she left and I had no choice but to let her go........ARE YOU KIDDING ME?........good one Bioware. After that (if you did the Morrigan love work) you get to the last of it to fight the dragon and I was like Meh, it was a punch to the gut at that point I just want to let the city burn and the people, why should I help them, they all got what they wanted and the PC was left to travel and so I did, never to come back to that crap of a city with bad memorys, but love the role playing of this game.
It's all the Maker's fault....lol

well... let's all hope the sequel comes out soon and not in 2 years time. Just wished this game was longer so I don't have to wait to know what's next.... should have waited for the sequel before buying this damn immersive game!

sorry to drag up an old topic, but as I just finished the game and followed the morrigan romance ending I was looking into what other people thought and wanted to share my own view.
I had to say I loved this game all the way up to the ending. At first that is. When it ended I was quite disappointed in how morrigan just kind of up and left without any possibility of being held onto by any actions available to you. So I went to this site to see if there was any way possible to have her stay with you, but there is not. I then began to think about it.....
Now that I look back at it, it isn't that bad of an ending at all. The reason I enjoyed romancing morrigan over liliana was because she was way more interesting and played hard to get. For some reason that is more appealing to me. So her just leaving and you vowing to find her in the end just made it better in a way. Because its just like you have to keep going after her, to chase after this not meant to be love. Maybe eventually there will be a good ending between the two, but it would make for an exciting journey to chase after her for now. I am a guy who likes a good happy ending, and I would like to see one with morrigan, but I don't want it to be just simple and easy to win her over, she is not a simple person, it just wouldn't make sense. I like a good challenge.
So what I decided was that if Bioware expanded on this thoroughly and didn't just leave it as is, it will make for a very interesting story I would think, and maybe we shall be rewarded in the end for the endurance. It is a far better story than just winning over liliana in this game. I actually think I was far more interested in what would happen between the warden and morrigan that the actual blight, I mean come on, its basically lord of the rings. Rally a bunch of people to gather and fight the evil army while a small group goes in and destroys the leader aka Sauron/Archdemon and brings the enemy to their knees. Morrigan's story is much more interesting.
One last thing, the main reason that I think I was upset with this ending looking back at it was that at first it seemed that through all your efforts, she has just been using you this entire time and has no intention of doing anything else. I mean, she is blunt and a little cold at times, but this made her seem completely heartless and evil. That is not how I ever pictured her being. Though she was raised by flemmeth, I always thought there was a light that shined through that made her different than her mother.
But she never does say if her intentions are for good or evil does she....? I would certainly hope not the latter. I would have a hard time believing her to be completely evil. Towards the end of this game even, her hardened, defensive spirit seemed a bit cracked, and a softness seemed to show itself.
Anyways, thanks for reading my post.

I don't mind NPC's not telling me things immediately or waiting for a better time.
What I do mind is when tehy refuse to tell me thing I should know, and there's no more stalling.
Hey Morri. It's my friggin child! As the father I'm entilted to know more! Vauge ideas and promises and not enough, especially if you want to take it away forever.
No?
That's all you're gonna say?
Well, then get out, and do let the door hit you on your way out!

i found the ending quite emotional because you felt that whatever you did she was going to leave which is kinda sad and opens up an idea for a sequel.

I have to agree that her leaving one way or another made the ending much more emotional, and was really the only part of the ending that I really cared about. As I said, the main ending was to be expected.
Maybe its just me being hopeful, but I completely feel that there will be further development of the PC and morrigan. The way the ending was, and how she is the only other person on the front cover of the game other than the warden, its as if bioware planned on her being a larger part of the game from the beginning.
If they don't allow you in the next game to go after her, I will be utterly disappointed. And the only reason I would be able to think they wouldn't is if they had a canon ending for this game in mind. But I would certainly hope that if there is a canon ending, this is it.
When I played this game for my first time through, I played it out as if I was really making the decisions and if it was me, what would I do. My next playthroughs will consist of one being an ass and the other a saint. If I play it again as I did the first time, I wouldn't change a thing, even knowing she is going to leave in the end. This is the saddest, best ending in the game I think. I don't know about you guys, but I did end up bedding her in the end in hopes I could convince her not to leave after we killed the archdemon. And that she still left and you vowing to find her made it even a better ending. Thus, I pray to the Maker that a good ending comes out of all this.
Edit: I do understand that many other people may disagree that this is the best ending of course, and I respect that. I just personally I find that an ending with liliana or you dying, just isn't fun or as interesting. And I don't even know what to say if you played a woman character. I feel they drew the short stick on this game. I guess you can become queen technically at the end, and thats kinda cool. But not as awesome as trekking across the land after someone.
I just hope that bioware didn't have a canon ending in mind, and that they take their time with the next game, because it is going to have to be huge to accommodate all the different choices in this game.

Well, I played a male PC romancing Zevran and couldn't care less about Morrigan until she proposed the dark ritual. I made Alistair bed her, because I was roleplaying a strictly gay character deeply in love with Zevran... and yet I found her ending very emotional and even if the baby isn't the child of my character (thanks Gods!), I'd like to seek out Morrigan... with Zevran at my side, of course

Morrigan's ending was excellent. It's the tragedy that makes her so amazing. I have to admit that I often go ahead with the Dark ritual, even if I'm not romancing her, because her lines at the Gates of Denerim are so awesome. The way she says "Live gloriously!" with just a hint of loosing her composure is just so... perfect.

Dragon Age 2 has already been confirmed, so i'm pretty sure she will be in it. I like bioware's idea of having a cliff hanger if you were in any way involved with her. The sequel will most likely come out in 2 years, just like ME2 and judging by the two years worth of DLC. Although i can't wait, but ME2 will have to hold me over until then. The reason i prefer Morrigan over Leliana is because she's not predictable. I think Bioware did an excellent job in making her character.

I completely agree with you. I can wait 2 years for this game I think (I may have to put myself in a coma that lasts 2 years though), I just need ME2 to come out and get my mind off of it. I have never been so taken aback by the relationship between two characters in a game. Seriously, I got to the end and when she was telling me that she was leaving one way or another I was like "WTF?!?! 60+ hours of being with you and giving you gifts and this is what I get!? I even killed your demonic mother for you!...."EJon wrote...

I applaud bioware for what they have done with this character. So many other characters in any game, as far as romances go, if they left like she did I would be like, yeah whatever, I don't need her. But she is different, she made the game great, its like you get so far with her and you think you have her completely on your side and will follow you wherever and then she blindsides you.
Now I refuse to believe she is evil, just misunderstood in a way. There is good in there, you just have to be willing to search for it. Enough ranting for now though, all I can do at this point is speculate and hope for a happy ending. I have come to terms with this ending finally, in hopes that all will play out for the better in the end. All I know is my character shall venture to the ends of the earth to find such an ending with her. I guess if the developers allow for it that is.....erg, I can't wait. And it pains me that I can't stop thinking about it.
