Hey.

I have searched extensively on this question and I have yet to find a suitable answer.

The Topic:  Transferring Files!

The Issue:  My saved files on my xbox 360 harddrive for Mass Effect 2 say they have an "Unknown User".  When I try and Copy or Move these files to my xbox profile I am told that I cannot do that because "These files cannot be transferred to another profile".

The Suggested Solution:  That I recover my old gamertag (the one that I had initially used to save these files) and try to use that one to access my saved game.
The Problem:  I cannot recover this gamertag because I cannot get that old email address back because I have insufficient information.  I have tried everything.  It is not going to happen.  So, basically I will never get this gamertag back.

The Question:  I have the saved files. Can I not just transfer them (somehow) to my new profile?  Are these files really just trapped in a xbox limbo becausse I cannot revocer my gamer tag?  Am I screwed?

Any help would be great!

All game-saves are linked to your gamertag, which means they can only be used by the gamertag under which they were created. What kind of information are you missing for your email address? There are quite a few options for you to recover forgotten information, but you have to remember some things to do that.

I explored almost all of those 'recover gamertag' options. Sadly it will not be possible. So then there is no way I can link those saved files to another gamertag. Bummer. Seems like unnecessary security to me.

The gamertag itself doesn't matter; if you still remember the email address but not the password, you can recover it and thus recover your gamertag.

how can I recover a gamertag with only the email address and not the password? The xbox 360 demands both email address and password to recover a gamertag.. And I have tried to re-gain access to my account but I cannot supply enough information to have microsoft issue me a new password.

You're not really understanding me. Here:

1. Go HERE
2. Under Sign in, insert the email address linked to your gamertag.
3. Click Forgot your password?.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions until the end.

If done correctly, you will receive a message with your new password, at which point you can use the email to recover your gamertag from Xbox Live.

If this doesn't work, then I'm afraid I have no clue. But I'm sure others can help.

AFAIK you can use Modio to move save containers between profiles.

If you have an XBox 360 HD transfer cable and access to a computer you can transfer saves.

You'll need a program like Xport 360 and also Modio.

Create a new save under your current gamer tag in Me1, then use Xport/Modio to extract your old save games and reinsert them into the save file for that save game. I've not tried it, but I expect it would work just fine.

I'm sure you've answered this a thousand times, but I'm new here, and very new to XBOX and to the whole Mass Effect universe. I played ME2 first then played ME1 and just completed it three days ago. I was FemShep in ME2 and ManShep in ME1. My question is I imported my ManShep to my ME2 game-so does that automatically erase all my FemShep games? Can you go back and forth between both of them in the same game or is it set up so that once you import your character it 86's everything else?

Why would it erase your other game-saves? Any two save files (i.e. Shepard's) are completely separate entities with their own data. No reason for a new save to delete another unless you do it yourself.

I see. Thank you for the information. Is there a specific way to retrieve one or the other game? Is that done at the menu somewhere-I'm not sure I know how to pull it up. I apologize for my ignorance on the issue, again-pretty new to the whole Xbox experience.

If you are writing about switching characters then that is an option on the 'load game' screen, making the assumption you have multiple characters of course. Instructions on how to do so are on the screen ('switch careers' I believe the option is).
