Certainly, as I think you made good points.

Thank you, Mr. Laidlaw, for your post.  Very professional and civil.

Riloux wrote...

Mike Laidlaw's post condensed into 4 sentences:
"Sorry. We ****ed up. We're working on it. We still want the CoD crowd."

We must have read a different OP.  Here's what I got out of it.

We know some of you are upset.
We are taking your concerns into consideration.
We will continue to do what we think is best for the franchise and Bioware.

This is entirely proper for someone in Mr. Laidlaw's position.  I reserve the right to disagree with the decions he has made and future decisions he may make, but the market is the ultimate arbiter of success.  Mr' Laidlaw's primary responsibility is to his employers, not to us.  I may not like the new direction (and, based on DA2, I certainly don't hold out a great deal of hope for the future installments meeting my personal preferences), but the bottom line is where the proverbial rubber meets the proverbial road.

What's funny to me, is now that its time to start pushing DA3, it's the perfect time to say DA2 was "flawed" just like they said about Origins when pushing DA2. Um yes Mike, half the community said DA2 was flawed heavily before you even shipped it.

The mind........it BOGGLES!!!!

But hey....I also foresaw that Oblivion would be an insult to Morrowind before it was shipped.......

Wait...........<_<

Here is all I ask:

-More locations and more than one cave or building that is reused for the entire game in those locations.

-Better interaction and more fleshed out relationship building, like in Origins.

-Bring back the epic dark fantasy atmosphere.

-Actually continue where Origins left off, so that the first game actually means something. There was no reason for such a departure.

-Allow us to be able to kit out our party members.

Do these things, and I will be happy as can be.

The only way to play DAO is with the skip the fade mod. :P

You know, I downloaded and used that mod.... ONCE.  I missed it, kinda, when it was gone.  Sure, I complain about it because it is loooooong, but I actually like it.  It is just too long.  Make that shorter and it would have been alright. (imho)

And why should we? Do we have to? Are we in any way obliged to?

Oblivions metacritic score is 94.
Dragon Age 2s metacritic score is 79.

Which is the better game, again?

Perse, you're amazing! Also, I foresaw Invisible War not being able to live up to the first game's legacy.

Actually my one big problem with the combat was the sound. The constant pew pew pewing of hte mage and the constant sling sling slashing of the warrioirs/rouges really hurt the experience. Are you guys thinking of doing what Mass Effect 3 is and getting help from the Battlefield developers on the sound. because that would be great if the sound of the charachter's footsteps changed when the PC entered a small enclosure. Or the sound of an arrow/mage bolt changed depending on the size of the arena or how far away the target is. I also think it would be jsut absolutly fantastic if attacks sounded completly different depending on the enemy's type of armor.

But alas, I guess we're trolls.

I wouldn't say you (e.g. him; I haven't followed your posting habbits lately) are trolls.  Trolling means posting something - more often than not something the troll does not even agree with - simply to get a rise out of people.  I think "you people" are just malcontents with a sweet tooth for hyperbole, melodrama, and in some cases, arrogance.

You threw yourself in with the guy who wrote gems such as:

The game of DA2 was a guy that did a bunch of fetch quests with 3 story arcs that in any other game would have been nothing more than sidequests.

You removed any connection a player could honestly feel towards his character by including VO's and a Mass Effect dialogue wheel.

I thought Sten was boring when I played DAO but by comparison to DA2 he's freaking amazing.

And who could forget the classics, like:

I'm not egotistical but I swear to God I could write better and more enjoyable characters in a few hours.

Hell, I know grade schoolers that could have written a better story that had better pacing and more interesting developments.

You stood on the shoulders of Brent Knowles and said, "I could do things better" - and you failed.

I mean, really?

Don't give a damn about Metacritic scores, dearie. Nobody tells me what to like & what not to like. Not Metacritic, not a community mob mentality & certainly not ratings of any kind.

I hate Oblivion because IMHO Morrowind was better in every way. I love DAII. Live with it.

That depends entirely on whether or not you're looking to craft a complex character within a fantasy story, or play dress up and ride around on a unicorn.

Like I said in the response to the thread in the general user discussion: the pre-release criticism was that DA2 would be ME2. You know that I was a major backer of the changes to DA2. It's ironic, but I largely got the I thought I was going to get with DA2 in TW2.

DA2 was not a good game, but the pre-release chatter wasn't close to the mark, even at its most negative. Even the most on the mark criticism, that it was being rushed, talked about the content being buggy like DA:A, not outright recycled like DA2.

You should've written "in my opinion" in the original post, then. :P

To be honest, you're the only person I've ever read about that dislikes Oblivion, whilst everywhere I go on the internet there are people who despise Dragon Age 2(not me).

And as an avid rider.........riding in Oblivion is god awful. I've never seen horses move like....that. Thank God.

One last thing. Am I the only one that finds it funny as Hell when one of the devs acts surprised when people are upset at the lack of original environments in the game?

"Oh, you guys like going to new and different places? You didn't like that one cave we designed? It was a really intricate cave! Well, we'll be sure to work on that in the DLC! See? We're listening!"

Rubbish. Absolute rubbish.

Oh, many Morrowind fans hate Oblivion and the treatment Bethseda dished out. By comparison, Bioware treats its fanbase like royalty.

Reviews are just opinions. They're just louder than others. :o To me? It was DA2. But still, I found The Witcher superior to Risen. But the Gothic series 1-3 beats them both. Morrowind beats them all and Baldur's gate made love with Planescape: Torment to make them.

They're all opinions :D

I don't play FPS games(aside from New Vegas), which one is better?
