Don't give a damn about Metacritic scores, dearie. Nobody tells me what to like & what not to like. Not Metacritic, not a community mob mentality & certainly not ratings of any kind.
I hate Oblivion because IMHO Morrowind was better in every way. I love DAII. Live with it.
You should've written "in my opinion" in the original post, then.
To be honest, you're the only person I've ever read about that dislikes Oblivion, whilst everywhere I go on the internet there are people who despise Dragon Age 2(not me).

The point is, that even if a game has a high rating, it does not mean anything because there will always be people who dislike it, disapointed or in the case of certain fanbases, unpleaseable.Alistairlover94 wrote...

As a person who studied programming for many years, and occasionally dabbles in it, DA2's quality inside its development frame is amazing. You worked hard to get this game looking this nice and mostly working to us inside your alotted time. I understand why you and your team are proud of DA2, and I'm thankful that your pride does not mean you will yeild to stubborness or ego.
I'm not going to dwell on the errors that you have already identified as areas of work. You've got that buttoned down. I look forward to seeing what your team will do with DLC, as I'm good for more Free Marching (at a price, oh the irony).
Despite its flaws, the game was enjoyable, and I did enjoy the writing and companions, though the ending needed more meat. A corination for Viscount Hawke would have been nice. The combat was nice, but needs less gib (which you say is fixed for the next patch).
The tactical element in DAO was lost in translation, but I have faith your team can reclaim this. Even waves aren't neccesarily bad if they're handled right.
Once concern I have for DAIII is not unsimilar to one I had from KOTOR. You speak of kicking over the sandcastle and stirring the pot, but when you took your ball home you took my Warden with you. I never got to see the General and Revan try and stop the Sith Empire from returning. I would have liked to. Don't dissapoint me on this one twice, give me the results of the potential you've set up. Show me that my Warden(s) would not sit on his/her ass(es) and allow the world to fall apart. The fires stirred up by Hawke's adventures in Kirkwall demand that heroes from all corners of Thedas do what heroes do. You brought this on yourself after all, since Cassandra is looking for both the Warden and the Champion. I don't care if my Warden's face needs to be recreated in the character creator, I don't care if my Warden has a voice I didn't imagine, and I double especially don't care that my Warden might not have the equipment he/she left Awakenings wit . . . . okay I lied on that last one, Starfang and Vigilance should be an option
You might also want to add options to interrupt other characters while they are talking, some DA2 NPCs and companions needed to get punched pretty badly while talking. After all, Commander Shephard doesn't take that nonsense in the future, and I know he/she didn't invent it.
A final nitpick, why does no one in the DA universe use horses? Just a thought. As long as you don't do horse armor DLC.
Thanks for taking the time to address the communty concerning fan reaction to DAII I didn't hate the game by a long shot, it was pretty good, and it probably would have been quite good if it had only had more time in the oven. I have played through 3 times already, working on my fourth. So while I sound critical, my 120 hours play time is well spent so far, and I look forward to seeing the DLC and DAIII. Hell, I'll probably still preorder DAIII.

"Sorry. We ****ed up. We're working on it. We still want the CoD crowd."
I don't understand how you could think he said any of that unless you want to be disappointed. I mean, honestly.
"Sorry. We ****ed up."
"We're working on it."I am absolutely aware of the concerns voiced here. Issues like level re-use, the implementation of wave combat, concerns about the narrative and significance of choice and so on have all been not only noted, but examined, inspected and even aided me (and many, many others on the team) in formulating future plans.
"We still want the CoD crowd."Further, I'm not only aware of the concerns, but I agree that there are aspects of DA II that not only can but must be improved in future installments. And that is precisely our intent. Finally, let me conclude by saying that while we are all aware of your concerns, I am very proud of what the team accomplished with Dragon Age II. I know many are advocating a "it wasn't broke, why did you try to fix it?" stance, and I absolutely understand why.
From my perspective, as someone looking to the future and the DA franchise, I think that DA II moved us into a space that has more potential. A larger potential audience? Sure, who wouldn’t want more players diving into the experience of playing an RPG?
His words are pretty, and he's a fine writer, but very transparent.

Didn't work for me, Dragon Age II allows you only to be reactionary you can't ever be pro-active. Hawke spends most of her time sitting around on her narrow ass waiting for things to fall apart so she can get involved at the very last possible second.
At least in New Vegas if I didn't like a faction I could start undermining their efforts from the start of the game.
So I would hardly call someone who is 100% reactionary and has no control over anything a complex fantasty character and certainly not "The Most Important Person In The History of Thedas".

For me the break from reality in DA2 came in some of the combat moves being to over the top, like some of the closing attacks, and the leaping into the air and creating a shockwave, or the teleporting backstabs. I like rogues and warriors as badass normals, no special powers or abilities that aren't realistic, at least not without taking a specilisation.Persephone wrote...
