When the developers do things well - particularly when they're getting blasted in the forums for it - I make a point to tell them what a good job they did.simfamSP wrote...

I first did that for Mike Sass. Mike was a 2D artst at BioWare (he left a few years ago), and he did the character portraits for BG2. The rage that spewed from the community over those portraits was staggering, but I really liked them, and thought they were a significant improvement over BG's portraits. So I sent him fan-mail.
Then I switched to having Stan Woo hug people for me, but that didn't go well.

And I still stand by these so-called "****ty design" decisions that I defended pre-release, I loved Dragon Age 2 while you clearly didn't (though didn't you say you weren't going to buy it until it was in the "bargain bin"? Change your mind again?).

Actually what I said was this was their last pre buy from me. Which it will be. I'm not even sure I'm even going to pick up ME3 ever.

If you're unable to reply to each other without trying to get a shot in, then I would polite request you simply don't reply to each other.

I was entirely civil. "Civil" doesn't mean people have to agree with you.
I doubt his sincerity, and after this much time has passed I think it's entirely reasonable to suspect he's being disingenuous. I'm not saying that to be rude, I'm saying that because it appears to be true. He's popped back out after months of silence most likely because the Dragon Age 3 advertising is going to start soon and he needs to do damage control on Bioware's tarnished reputation.

I just read one comment that said "Go and be naive for liking DA2 while I play a good game" and I just know this thread will get locked. I'd rather it didn't so everyone just, and this is as civil as I can be after reading that one comment, SHUT UP.
Some people like it (myself included). Others don't. Neither side is in the right so don't act like your side is.
I'm glad we got a post from one of the developers addressing the problems with DA2. I admit I'm a bit skeptical, but I'm hoping the DLC makes Hawke proactive, gets rid of the waves of enemies, and allows us to have actual choices as the protagonist.

It's nothing new, people have been calling BioWare personnel liars for a long time. It's their choice, it just doesn't really add anything. What's Laidlaw gonna say?
Exactly, tow the PR line which is what it seems like he's doing. Can't really fault him for it, though honestly I'm not surprised. I remember someone mentioning it a few days or maybe a week ago that once DA3 ramped up we'd get a "da2 had flaws but DA3 will be so awesome" type of posts. Much like the dismantling Origins got when DA2 PR ramped up.
Cept this time, I don't think half as many are going to buy into it.
