I honestly had no problem with some of the changes, but they were executed so poorly.
- The game takes place over years, but the city or none of the surroundings ever change. Nothing you did in Act 1 grew into anything in Act 3.
- You give me a family, but never developed it. I can remember 1 quest that dealt with the family in the city where they cam from. Your mom lives with you for almost two acts and you barely speak.
- I had a problem with how dead the city was before I played the Witcher 2, but it's even more glaring now. Moreso, I went back and looked at Origins. Even Ostegar had more life. You had the man talking about killing darkspawn, the mages practicing, the woman preaching, the archers practicing, there were things going on around you.
- It was supposed to be a personal story but didn't feel like it. It should have started in Lothering to introduce you to your family, develop it some, and connect the games for people who played the first. Then in Kirkwall show how Hawke made his/her name doing small quests first, then being trusted with bigger ones. As mentioned earlier, develop the family.
So if you're still reading this thread Mr. Laidlaw, I have no problem with change in general, but if you do it, you should take the time to do it well. But it is good to see that you have read the and acknowledged the players concerns.
The enemy waves I hated though
