I assume most of you have seen Laidlaw's new thread, in the thread he reveals three screenshots:

Image IPB
Image IPB
Image IPB

From what we know, they are still located in the Free Marshes:

After all, there’s been a lot of requests to explore areas outside of Kirkwall, and I agree that seeing some more of the Free Marches would be cool.

And... griffons?

Also, there seem to be rather a lot of….are those griffins?
I think they might be!

While it's rather vague, what do you guys think about these screenshots? What do you think about the potential for griffons returning somehow (alive, dead or undead)? Where do you think the DLC could fit timeline wise?

Heeee, I just saw these on the DA Facebook page and got pretty excited! Here's to hoping that it's screenies for DLC :) I'm not freaking out over the griffins though. The ones in the screenie look like mere statues, however it WOULD be amazing if Bioware decided to bring them back. Definitely not getting my hopes up though.

I'm having difficulty trying to tie all three screenshots together, the tower is probably the biggest confusion in my theories. I was thinking that the second screenshot and third screenshot were tied together, both maybe being a former Grey Warden outpost (I doubt anybody else would have statues of Griffons).

It wouldn't be surprising to have former Grey Warden buildings with Griffons in the Free Marches, considering that's where the Fourth Blight was ended after all and probably the last blight before Griffons went extinct. Could it be possible that we'd be going near Ayesleigh?

Though once again, the tower doesn't make much sense in this theory as it's completely unrelated... mm...

Ayesleigh is in Antiva/Rivain, a *very* long way from Kirkwall. Also take into account that the current "Wilderness" map only extends a few dozen miles from Kirkwall (though I'll bet a special map will be made for any DLC that leaves the Kirkwall area.)

The Silent Plains, however, are close, near Nevarra/Tantervale. If I remember correctly, the Silent Plains is where the First Blight was ended, and a good place for a Grey Warden DLC.

Though I've wanted to know more about Tantervale and the Silent Plains, so maybe I'm just getting too excited...

Perhaps the bird statues in the Primeval Thaig were actually of griffins. The setting of that pic does seem to be underground.

Given the prescence of the Griffon statues, I am leaning towards a Gray Warden keep/fortress. Possibly the concern the Gray Wardens had at the end of Act 2?

Maybe... ZOMBIE GRAY WARDENS?!!!

It's the Stroud DLC, explaining why he's not in Act 3 at all.

It's because he turned into a zombie Warden while investigating a Warden outpost, and now Hawke must defeat Stroud and the spirits of the first Grey Wardens!

...Or maybe I've spent too much time in LOTRO recently to be taken seriously.

...  Okay, I don't see it.  Where is whatever in the pictures that's supposed to be griffins?

Third screenshot, to the right. The statues.

The tower in the first pic reminds me a lot of the Tevinter ruins in the Dragonbone Wastes. Is that just me? It could be related to the Emperium, which would just set my heart to fluttering due to Kirkwall's history.

Maybe we'll be visiting an ancient Grey Warden base? It's easy fodder for more Hawke GW sibling, or Nate Howe. I'd love to see some GW history from an outsider's perspective. We never really got much of how the everyday person sees the Wardens post-Blight.

Ahh, I see now.  Thank you.  Very interesting, especially as stalagmites can be seen in the background, meaning this is underground.  There was a warden base... in the deep roads?!

I wouldn't be surprised if there was one. In fact, it made no sense for me during Origins for the Wardens not to have a base in the Deep Roads.

Then again, I also believe the Dead Caste should be integrated into the Wardens so I may have a more militant-aggressive slant on the whole "In Peace. Vigilance." idea of the Wardens.

I'd think it would probably be after Act 3, though I don't know if we'll follow another person's telling of the story or if we're going to play "real time" Hawke.

I'm guessing pic 2 is some ruined city on the surface, and then as you enter the deep roads from there you come upon the buried city and tower from pics 1 and 3. All of this being about a lost Warden stronghold of some significance.

The first one might be some ancient tower of a tevinter magister. The second looks like a mine or a quarry. The third is similar to ancient dwarven thaigs from Origins (Cadash Thaig in particular).

Maybe they're all different locations that we'll get to explore as part of a story dlc? Something that deals with ancient Tevinter Imperium and the Grey Wardens?

I'm curious as to how big that dlc actually is and when it takes place. During the main DA2 story? After the whole templar/mage conflict in Kirkwall?

I wonder if we get to play Hawke again. And if so would we have companions with us. And if so would they be silent as in Mass Effect DLC

Oh please no. That was the one thing that stopped the Mass Effect DLC from being perfect in my opinion.

Oh hell yes. Wild Wild Central Thedas!
Edit: Random musing from me, anyone else considers it likely we'll meet Sigrun here? If you think about it, her endings either involve her going into the deep roads, staying with the wardens, or disappearing/dying. I find it rather likely that there'll be some kind of Grey Warden Expedition there, and most of her endings makes it rather logical for her to appear there. Same for Velanna actually.
