If you're in close quarters combat, a knife is very practicle. Not so much against drones, but against mercs it'd be very potent since kinectic barriers don't block knifes.

Guns are practical too at close quarters and barriers dont protect against those at close range either.

Aha...because real soldiers of today don't have knifes in their equiment among all the other high tech stuff. Oh wait, they do!
