 Hello, Bioware.

As a devoted fan of the Dragon Age series, I have to say that one thing has been nagging me since Witch Hunt... the lack of closure for our characters. Both the Warden and Hawke simply disappeared, leaving all their responsibilities behind.

I would love a sense of completion for both the Warden and Hawke in the upcoming DLC/next game. This would not necessarily mean a cameo from the Warden, or Hawke for that matter, if DA3 features a new protagonist, but could be something as simple as an epilogue stating their fate.

Thank you.

I concur, though more so for The Warden. Would like The Warden to play some sort of part in a future installment, other than gossip and ambient chatter. Perhaps a warlord in Morrigan's evil army? But in seriousness, it likely won't happen due to VO implementation and a new morph-system. One can hope, however. Hawke was all right, but not a character I was interested in learning more about.

We are only on game 2. They are just starting up the story of Thedas and our Warden and Hawke are all wrapped up in it. Don't worry, we will hear more of them. In continuing dlc and games =) that's how I see it anyways.  btw I love all my F!Hawkes. Have got 3 so far.

Hawke's story will most definetly have closure in DA3.

DA2 was basically a huge tedious prologue.

Actually, bad news: I got a thinly-veiled 'no' to the Warden from a message I shot to Laidlaw:

Mr. Laidlaw:

Your latest thread has me interested, especially your comment (in one of your subsequent posts) about the VOs being perpetuated in the series. That said, do we have a chance of seeing The Warden again? I didn't want to turn your 'Thank You' thread into a Q&A and throw it off-track, so I figured I'd drop you a line and hope for a reply.

I don't expect an outright yes or no, just something satiating to go on. With the addition of a voiced protagonist, I don't see how it's likely. But I'm holding out hope. Anything you can divulge? Ambiguous answers are fine. (:

Thanks!

Wish you luck on the rest of your projects.

I would suggest that it's unlikely, but not impossible. The core reason is that with the face system redesigned, there could be cosmetic differences, and while people might accept some minor changes in Alistair/Zev/Leli, I think that -any- deviation in the character you may have spent hours crafting does a disservice to that character.

So while it could be cool, I don't think we could pull it off as well as we would want to; and the voice thing is problematic.

This post isn't meant to spark animosity between the pro-Warden and pro-Hawke parties and turn the thread into another battle of attrition; nor was it meant to disparage Laidlaw in some catty, underhanded way. I just thought I'd share, as the information seemed relevant to the discussion. I'm a smidge disappointed by the news, but I expected this was the case. At the very least, we'll get closure for Hawke. The Warden, unfortunately, will likely vanish into nothingness like Revan.

Closure does not necessarily mean you need to visibly see The Warden or Champion again, simply that you know what exactly happened to them. Obviously the visual would be nice but it isn't necessary (I don't think) to achieve what the OP was looking for.

All I have to say is listen to the final cutscene of DA 2  the disappearance is part of the overarching World Story of Dragon Age and there is a mystery behind it (that is what I gathered from end of Witch Hunt and end of DA 2)

I know, but I'm one of those ridiculous (and admittedly annoying, I'm sure) Warden fans. I know you don't need a physical rep of the Warden to bring said closure, but I would've preferred that over a text-based 'this is what happened'. Don't get me wrong, text or no I'm still down for the DA series (though a little bit warier now). It's just a preferential thing.

We didn't have closure in DA:O, why would I expect it in DA:2.

What exactly would you have them do with the Warden given how there is no canon to what the Warden was to look like, and what race the Warden was anyway? How would they allow us to see our Warden when they don't let us import our Warden's faces? Full helmet?

I dunno. I don't see how they could let us see our warden going forward unless the first thing you do in DA2 was full character creation, and that's not how Bioware rolls.

We will never see our Warden again, and I think it's time people come to terms with that.

Just like you don't need a woman to reach climax...

I'm happy. I didn't like that DA:A forced my (surviving) Wardens to do something they never would; return to lead the order. Let them enjoy their retirement.

Couldn't you like. ..not use your surviving wardens, use a Orlesian warden, and therefore, allow your Warden to enjoy their retirement after one hard year of labor?

Agreed, but honestly I really don't care for Hawke unless my Warden gets to track him down and introduce him to the murder knife.

The problem was the world state. If you use an Orlesian Warden you can import your DA:O worldstate. It was a choice of two evils.

Gonna assume you meant "can't" there, and yeah, that would be a serious problem, sorry.

Could just let us recreate the face for the Warden in a future game, face morphs may be different, but the old hairstyles are still there, and it has been some years, would expect some wear on the facial features for someone who has been hard at keeping the world safe from darkspawn, and all the stress the new darkspawn have caused him/her and the other wardens.

I don't think it'll be that big of a deal, the player at least will be in control in how the Warden looks, even if it isn't exactly how it was in Origins.

Not Bioware's style, imo.

Unless it's a entire game, or something, I don't see them adding a CC for dlc or an expansion or something like that.  Too much work to appease to a fanbase that will likely buy the game anyway, or fix it via a mod.

That's what I meant, for a future game, not dlc. Such as DA3 or 4. Or they could just leave the Warden alone, resting in the pages of Thedas' history. Would probably prefer the latter.

Revan never got his/hers closure... maybe SW:ToR will bring it finally if they ever actually release it. That's why I'm looking forward for ME3, finally closure for one of my beloved characters. Actually, Warden could get a closure in DA3 - through side quests info, codex entries, even through major quest line - it doesn't have to be with him/her appearing on the main stage... after all, at the beginning of DA2 we know that 11 years have passed since Archdemon's fall and Warden's have some 30 years to live after initiation, so I wouldn't mind even 'went to Deep Roads for the final heroic stand' thing as long as I get that final word about the Warden.

Still would have been nice to know (or parhaps to stongly hint) to what the warden and/or champion are up to by the end (of the retail game).

Just my two cents.* I'm happy with Dragon Age 2, but I would have liked a little bit
more clarity as to the departure of the heros.

*+ retail price of the signature edition dragon age 2.

They have both gone to join the Spectres, protecting not only Thedas, but the rest of the world from evil. Thedas is only part of a continent we've seen so far.

The Warden and Hawk had a secret meeting in a cave to decide what to do next.
Neither had matches to light the lamp.
