Speaking of her breaking free of indoctrination... How did she break free from it? A matriarch was unable to break free from it, and shiala was around just as long as her. Did the Thorian have something to do with that?

Also if they are going to make the cipher a big deal with Shiala, they better damn well expand upon it with shep first.

I think they could do either one.  Shepard starts noticing things that they weren't before and Shiala reveals why it's happening.  Or Shiala tells Shepard what to expect regarding the cipher and all.

What to expect regarding the cipher? Wouldn't shep be the one to tell Shiala, considering he had the cipher first, and for quite some time before her?

My opinion, not backed by any canon fact at all, is that her time with Thorian was directly related to her breaking the indoctrination.  The Thorian also used a form of mental control; I theorize that it was able to undo Reaper indoctrination and impose its own form of control, which itself was undone when the Thorian was killed.  This also makes sense in light of how old the Thorian was.  The Thorian was truly ancient, and was around when Feros was a Prothean world.  It was old enough to know about the Reapers, and apparently smart enough to devise an effective defense against their indoctrination capabilities, which it used to break Shiala away from Sovereign's control so it could control her itself.

I could easily see an arc to the story where genetically modified Thorian spores from Feros could be used as a medication to break Reaper indoctrination.  A quest line in ME3 to that end of could easily involve Shiala if she's alive in your game.  If not, one of the ExoGeni scientists could fill in.

I think you're mixing up the beacon and the Cipher.  Shiala had the Cipher before Shepard, and gave it to him on Feros....so he could understand what the beacon showed him.  Without the Cipher, the beacon's message was just gibberish to Shepard.

Doubtful. She's a pretty minor character in the grand scheme of things and so far you've only been able to romance squadmates.

The Devs have already stated that LIs don't have to be squad members.

Any new LI's are most likely to be new or returning squadmates, or squadmates you previously did not pursue (including s/s LI's).

I personally think they are going to be completely new characters most likely, like Vega but not necessarily squadmates either. But we'll see.

Sure. I would be interested in Shiala. But, I would be much more interested in Kasumi as a bi LI. Make it so.

Shiala is the only character in Mass Effect that I would cheat on Liara for. So I hope so!

I'd rather have Gianna Parasini as a possible non-companion love interest.

She can be killed in ME1, so I really really doubt it. This is also like the millonth topic on the same issue.

Yeah...so can every single squadmate in ME2.  I don't think the possibility of them getting killed means anything.

Shiala...
- has overcome indoctrination,
- might have due to her sickness awsome yet instable biotic powers
- still is the only one besides Shep having the cipher
- and last but not least is the most attractive asari the whole game series.. ;)

... so it woud be dumb not to let her be sqadmate and LI in ME3

Lets focus on combat.

Whaaat?!

I agree LIs shouldn't have all the attention but putting even more focus on combat is even worse. ME2 was already shooter first and very bland at it

I think Shiala is cool because she's one of the few characters who have a role in both games affected by my previous actions (though minor at that). Other ones being Parasini, Conrad and a couple others its no wonder so many would want Shiala romance

But at this point I'm happy if I can even get satisfying endings to the current LIs. Based on trailer the game will be even more straightforward action oriented

Shiala as a LI could be great. Hope she appears in the game.

Gianna should appear too.

instead of Shiala as romanceable i would rather have Joker, he is cool never second guessed you, always believed you. Stayed with you throughout all missions and saved your life many times over.

Shiara i hated her in me1 and i always try and skip her quests
