I fully understand and agree with the OP.. alas it´s also clear why the half honest response of Laidlaw comes now... since the deed is fully done and the bad critics are earned - and more importantly - the games are sold mostly and are now at the bargain bins in most shops, you can appease some of the fooled fans and say, "yeah you were right, we sold you crap... but we will do better, next time you give us your money.. honestly - i swear".

Most fun is the mention of "deeper RPG mechanics, for more choice" .. when i think of DA2 i think of many things.. but surely not choice or even "RPG mechanics"....

Hmm, exactly how do waves of enemies destroy strategy ? I can think of many real world, historical battles in which 'waves of combatants' were involved.

And a great deals of strategy and tactics on the part of commanders in dealing with that. For example, Napoleonic warfare was repleat with 'waves'. Send in the first wave of infantry. Then a wave of cavalry, then another wave of infantry, perhaps finishing off with the elite Guard wave. So no, 'waves' don't destroy the ability to use, nor the need for tactics and strategy.

So, going with that Napoleon comparison...

Let's say the bulk of the French army got routed and killed. Let's say their leaders died.
And then a unit goes in and tries to do what exactly... Annoy the enemy?

Because that's what happens in DA2.
You kill the guys who ambushed you and their top dogs, their leaders, mages, assassins, whatever.
And THEN a few dweebs show up from the sky to attack you... Who you, of course, dispatch with no problems at all.

...

Seriously, let's not pull historic comparisons in trying to justify this crappy mechanic.

Yeah, anyone who complains about DA2 is dumb.
And we're also petty and small inside.

While I am certain that not all are this way, far too many seem to match this description.

All you do is encourage him. He's in spammers heaven if you react like this. Simply skip his one liners and when he doesn't get his fix, he will fade away.

The problem with that is that it's impossible to properly position you characters, making all tactical element virtually meaningless. In DA2 combat is essentialy: hold you party around a corner outside the spawing area, attract the attention of the enemies and lure them to your party, kill them, wait for the second wave, repeat.
...

I will try that. My constant tactic was kill the first wave, then grab the mage and run around the area deperately avoiding the mage-killers, and throwing a heal every once in a while, in the hopes that my warriors/thieves survived without my attack-button spam. It was really really really annoying.

Whats up my segregated friends?

Mike doesnt even read the non-user board where second-class citizens dwell. He only sticks to the ''real'' forum, where he has less chances of being thrown tomatoes at.

So keep fighting between yourselves while the jail guards mods come from time to time to yell NO TOUCHING.

You know that feeling you get when you see a BIOWARE tag appearing under the thread you commented in? Yeah thats not Mike. Or David. Its just another mod. Such is life in the ghetto.

Can someone post the last link or pic from the OP that's under "Don't post charts and insist people are overreacting" somewhere else? The link in the OP doesn't work and I'm confused as to what he's talking about exactly.

lol, yea, I suspect you are right. I know I'm a second class citizen to Bioware when they only want to hear comments from game buyers in particular forums.  Though I am pleasantly surprised this thread didn't get locked before it even started, because I have heard bad things about moderation here. I guess some mods are more tolerant of the "malcontents"  than others, and all due credit to them. If we didn't have so much good faith in Bioware from past titles and glories and only want to see them achieve the summit once again, we wouldn't bother posting here at all if this wasn't the case.

Strange timing to suck up to the fans right after a far superior game in the witcher 2 was released. Coincidence I think not. Looks like a lot of the lemmings on the bioware forum bought it though. I guess time to mend fences so we'll buy the da3 lies or sorry I mean hype.

The opened open a potentially larger audience with da 2? I don't know about that seem like they got rid of a lot of diehard faithful fans to bring in some casual gamers. Larger audience but how loyal will they be?

And at this point, I think this thread has reached the end of its useful life, as there doesn't seem to be much discussion happening anymore.

Locking.
