i've got the firepower pack.
i got the private message telling me about the mattock.
i can use the phalanx which also come with the pack.
but !!!
i can't use the mattock, it simply doesn't show in the armory.
why is that?
is it some choice i made at some point which prevents me from having it?
i can't recall any *shrugs* .
i'm playing sentinel ( insanity ) . I could use it when i played hardcore .
*clueless* .

indeed this is my 2nd run on insanity and i decided to import Shep to keep my powers , esp. tungsten ammo .
thanks for replying
now i know where i'm standing at least.
the viper sniper rifle inflicts great damage , but sometimes i have issues with the visor , like not having a damn clue where i'm looking..lol.
i plan on doing soldier or adept on my nest play through.

Basically, under Adrenaline Rush, the Mattock becomes a broken, entirely OP beast, since it's RoF doesn't go down during the slo-mo like other weapons do. With other classes, the Mattock is a solidly powerful AR, but not stupid broken like it is with the Soldier. That said, I like the Mattock on a soldier, because I think it's just an awesome weapon.

I don't get why people claim advise you to not use SG training as an adept because it's harder to use. Maybe for the other shotguns, but the GPS is very user-friendly. The projectiles even seek the target a bit if the target is moving. How much easier can it possibly get?

I agree that it's not as outrageously OP'd on any other class as it is on the Soldier under AR... but I still don't think it's balanced on them, either. For one thing it largely renders all other weapons redundant. It's essentially a Predator that does better damage, larger clip, effective against all defences and ranges that fires as fast as you can click. There's virtually no reason to use any other gun.
That isn't balanced. Apparently it's 'weakness' was supposed to be it's ammo.... but any weapon that picks up nearly a quarter of it's total ammo supply with every clip just isn't something that's going to have ammo issues.

Only if you stand perfectly still in the same spot behind cover. Maybe that's what it was balanced for?
Possibly. Though the Viper isn't like this. I would assume that Assault Rifles are handled in such a way that they always recover a large number of shots from a Thermal Clip drop.
To be honest, I'm not even sure the team were trying to balance it in the first place - I think Christina Norman actually out-and-out stated that they weren't supposed to fit into the balance of the weapons in the game. For shotguns this meant one that was long range, for pistols, this meant a sniper rifle stand-in....
For ARs, it meant rendering everything barring the Widow virtually obsolete

Oh, I never meant to say that it was balanced for other classes either, just that it isn't stupidly broken for non-Soldiers. It's a solidly powerful assault rifle, like I said. It does make other AR's redudant, which is why it's a good choice, but it's not totally OP'ed either.

I prefer the GPS for adepts because it deals exceptionally well with shields, the type of defense you do not have a power against. It also has a lot of ammo for the kind of damage it can deal. It's just incredible convenient overall for destroying defenses so you can start making things fly.

The GPS is a great shield breaker, and I mentioned that in my earlier post. I just don't like the feel of the weapon. You press the fire button, and release it to actually fire. It feels akward to me, and I don't like the feel of it. All of this is my opinion, which I said above. I prefer the Mattock to the GPS, and I said so, but I didn't advise him one way or the other, at least, not intentionally.

By the way, the slight delay you get before firing is also one of the reasons I do not use the GPS for CQC normally. I prefer the Eviscerator or Claymore for that.

Take the Shot Gun training, then use the GPS & M5 Phalax (as good as a Sniper Rifle) for your Sentinel, leave the Maddox with Grunt, Zaeed, Legion, Samara & Garrus. Have FUN with the GPS & Assault Armor, 2-3 shot Possessed or charged shot = really cool!xassantex wrote...
