They seem to be getting a ton of attention. I remember in DA2, One of the convo's you can have with Anders, you either tell him you are not interested (lose party influence or whatever it was). OR tell him you love him.

So wait? I can't tell him i'm not interested in him and not lose influence? WTF?

Are they gonna do this with ME3? When you are a male, and you find out that most of the male party members are attracted to you? That just a big turn off......

(I'm not homophobic, I know gay people that I was best friends with since college)

also...

Stop looking at my profile... you know who you are.

Too late, they'll call you a homophobe anyway.

I have to agree with this. And you didn't really need to emphasize that you're not a homophobe, since this is a problem that a LOT of people had with DA2.

I'm pretty sure if you have a crush on somebody and get rejected it's not going to be the happiest of days for you. and i doubt a Bioware is going to make every male in the game hit on Shepard like those dirty Asari

Oh god. Do you idiots STILL think that getting a few Rivalry points was a negative?

Is this the new "one of my best friends is black" meme?

The problem with the Anders romance is that there are two options to start the romance and only one to turn him down which angers him because of how it is said. As long as ME3 gives you the option of turning the person in question down without sounding like you are disgusted I'll be happy.

^ No it is backing up the point that guy is not a homophobe. It is the most one can say before they get called homophobic anyway. Which is really unfair on the guy as I know how he feels. I have been rejected before yet I am still really good friends with those that have rejected me and the ones I have rejected. Not allowing this in a Roleplaying game is unfair.

And since when has pissing off someone not a bad thing?! Rivalry points is and will never been seen as good.

Anders only makes the first move if you play diplomatic Hawke, I've only ever played sarcastic or aggressive so he's never bothered (although I played lady Hawke). Besides rivalry isn't necessarily bad, sometimes its annoying to get friend points if you're want rivalry points. So Anders hits on SOME Hawkes and IF you want friendship with him you'll be stuck with a few rivalry points. Why does it matter? You can easily make it up later by saying how fab mages are.

I really don't understand why people care. Does it really matter if a character flirts with your Shep/Hawke and your not interested? Doesn't that happen in real life? If you're gay it happens a lot more because people automatically assume your straight.

Oh yes because encouraging the girl not to use bloodmagic and listen to the demon is a bad thing. Encouraging someone to stop being selfish is a bad thing. Encouraging someone to compromise is a bad thing. Encouraging someone to let go of their hatred is a bad thing.

I love when people slam the rivalry path and it's blatantly obvious they never did one. ^_^

Since there is no companion approval mechanic in the former ME editions, I don't think you have to worry about that in ME3.

I think when your creating you character there should be a sexual orientation choice(straight,bi,gay) problem solved?

For me at least it less about gaining Rivalry than the fact that what Hawke said wasn't what I intended, which to be fair happend far more in DA2 than in ME anyway.

@Paul I would agree that the rejections are not always handled well. Hawke could turn down Isabela (same sex LI for lady Hawke) in a polite way (although why would anyone turn her down?) but I can never get Shepard to turn down Kaidan (straight LI) without sounding like an arse. So I don't see how its a same sex romance issue.

Not to mention turing Jack down ends up with her telling Shep to F*** OFF!

Ugh. <_<

Same thing with Jacob, even talking to him as femShep sounds creepy (now I just avoid him except when I need to pick up his loyalty mission). Also, Anders does the same thing with female Hawke so it isn't just an issue with s/s-romance.

@ Sarcastic Tasha - Never really thought about it before, its just that example really stood out, but yeah the romance options could be a better written on both sides.
