It's not that I'm against same-gender relationships...

It's more bracing for the storm.  It's convenient to label someone "homophobe" or "sexist" to ostracize and disqualify him.  One defensive posture is to counter the accusation.  Another is just to laugh at the accuser.

That's the problem I have with the stupid romances I just want to be a friend to Jack but the only options are romance her or ignore her.

People seem to forget that they had homosexual relationships in DAO and it wasn't brought up that much.

Another one of these? So soon? Hmmm:bandit:

Well, I'm ecstatic about same-sex romances for both genders in ME3.  The way I hope it's implemented is that every time MShep rejects teh gay advances, his chance of defeating the Reapers must go down exponentially. :police:

Just one question. What if turning down Isabelle got a few rivalry points, cause your not into women. What would that have caused? Besides if you're playing for friendship points it's quite silly to get rivalry points just because you turn down a 'relationship'  with a character. But since I assume it also plays out the same way when playing a female, it's just a general annoyance.

Hardly anyone would have cared. The only reason some people make a big stink about it with Anders is because it refers to a same-sex relationship, which they don't want because they swear they're totally straight dude. They only dig chicks. :?

Or throw cow blood on them like I usually do to hipsters.

I'm kind of curious if people actually have a hard time filling up the friendship/rivalary bars.  They pretty much throw friendship points at you unless you actively try to get on the  other persons "Bad side."

You know if you're just snarky towards Andes during that conversation he doesn't hit on you at all, ever.

Also I'd be a little, I don't know, indignant if someone wasn't at least a little disappointed if they got turned down. Maybe indignant isn't the right word, but you get what I mean. I think it was also the way Hawke acts if you choose to turn him down, they glare and quite coldly say "I don't want you thinking about like that." Probably intentionally so that people who'd rather kill Anders for threatening their manliness can hurt him a little at least.

In any case, I don't have a problem with having to fend off digital men with a stick even if they are selective squick to me. Someone will want them :P I don't. I move on.

Apparently

so since you're best friends with them, if they play mass effect you wouldn't want it in the game with means you wouldn't want them to have romances unless they roleplay a stright Shepard. Some friend.

Too late, they'll call you a homophobe anyway.

Nah man, not the case.

I'd never bring this up if it wasn't totally relevant, but it is, so here goes: I'm bi in real life, but I hated DA2's system. If a character professes attraction to you and you're of the same sex, there's no reason for you to LOSE influence.

You should have several options, including:

a.) Admitting that the attraction is mutual (positive influence)

b.) Politely saying that it's "not your thing" (no impact)

c.) Aggressively shooting them down (loss of influence)

Anything else does everyone a disservice, regardless of sexual orientation.
