OMG.
I'm really about as angry at inanimate objects/entities as I've ever been. What the hell is wrong with this forum? To wit, why is "BioWare General" the only category I can post in? For all other categories - y'know, the ones related to the GAMES WE'RE HERE TO DISCUSS - I have a glorious and ever-present reminder that, somehow, I "do not meet the requirements to post in this forum."
OK, requirements? Like WHAT??? Do I need to send a self-addressed stamped envelope to BioWare? Or do they need me to forward my screen name along with a certified copy of my birth certificate over to the NSA to be electronically filed? These conjectures might be considered over the top only if there was a link, introductory form message or some way of informing new users just what the **** these requirements to post are. Otherwise, in the absence of information speculation rules.
Obviously, I'm doing it wrong. I freely admit this. All the other people here seem to be blissfully posting their ultimate character builds and stratgies and whathaveyou with no issue. So I would really appreciate some guidance here.
And note to mods, I wouldn't have to post this publicly if there was a contact or support feature that didn't link to EA corporate (which only addresses specific games, not specifically the forums themselves. Way to put all that Crackbaby Basketball money to good use, guys...)
Worst Forum Ever...?

If you want to post in the game-related sections you need to have the appropriate game registered.
Other than that the forum is a mess, I agree. Formatting a post that has quotes or lists in them doesn't work properly half the time. To get it to look decent the user has to use the code-view to get everything to look orderly. And I'm not even touching the whole log-in and log-out issue that keeps bugging other users. Bah!

Sadly, I have to agree. I know the people who run the software are talented and capable of making changes, I just don't think they're being given the time or permission to make the dozens of changes (most of them pretty small) which would really help this site be useful.
This site is barely acceptable as a regular forum for 2011 given some of the issues you mention and the other little quirks which make using the software difficult. The "Social" side of the site is a boatload of FAIL and the reason it's so disappointing is because (from everything I've seen) the people employed/tasked with keeping this site current appear to be very good at what they do- when they are allowed to do it.
Very frustrating.
