I'm planning on getting this game and I am not sure about some things. First off is that I am not sure whether I should be lawful or neutral good. Secondly I want to take 5(or 6) levels in ranger then 6(or 5) levels in paladin and then I want to take two prestige classe from Kaedrin's PRC pack, but which ones? And how many levels for each?

Please answer as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. I know it's required to be lawful good for a paladin and other classes, which is why I'm so conflicted on my final alignment.

You can be a paladin then later change alignment - you will still be a paladin but you will not be able to gain further levels - just a side note.

IIRC, in the OC and many other games, it is relatively easy to change between good and evil, but you can't get chaos/law points (or they're rare). So, you mightn't be able to switch to paladin if you start as neutral good.

Yes, there are also Law/Chaos changes, but I'd start Lawful Good and forget about that problem, at least until you take all your Paladin levels, you can move to NG afterwards.

If you're taking 5 Ranger levels, take the 6th too, for the improved combat style. There's not a "best" class, there are many possible combinations.

Another question is how restricting is the lawful good alignment? How far can someone with this alignment push their boundaries before being considered non-lawful?

As I say, there aren't many law/chaos shifts, as I recall, so you could probably push it fairly far. You can see how lawful you are by looking at your character sheet anyway, so it's not like it need sneak up on you.

One thing to be aware of, though, is that the alignment shifts are not gradual. That is, if you're barely Lawful (70) and you gain a couple points of Chaos, it resets you all the way to Neutral (50).

Also, what is the earliest point you get the chance to persuade someone?

What are some prestige classes that are good and make sense for a character like mine to roleplay with?

P.S. When would be some good points to start taking paladin levels from a roleplaying standpoint?

Divine Champion would make sense as a prestige class.

DC is easy to hit the requirements for and can give you somehandy bonus feats, so it's probably the thing to go for since it makes some RP sense, too.

Persuading comes up all over.

Neverwinter Nine is another good RP choice in the OC.

From true role-playing standpoint, you should either start out Paladin, or at some point it makes sense to pledge yourself to Tyr (but your character will already be Level 11 or higher).

Also, I can't agree that Neverwinter Nine PC fits with a Paladin.  Lapsed Paladin, maybe.  But you can't serve two masters.  There's a guy you meet who will agonize about this very subject.

If you worship a deity that values order you can take Neverwinter Nine to help preserve the order in Neverwinter. Or you can worship a deity of the social system. Siamorphe is an NWN2 deity whose portfolio is "Nobles, rightful rule of nobility, human royalty" It would make perfect sense for a Paladin of Siamorphe to be a Neverwinter Nine, enforcing Nasher's "rightful rule".

Well, there's a RP reason to take Nw9 in the OC. Also, when reaching Neverwinter, you have to choose between two factions. Wouldn't that be the same, serving a master other than your deity?

Joining either of those factions is not the same level of commitment as either Paladinhood or Neverwinter Nineness. There is no actual Prestige class involved in either of those. (Of course, there may come an opportunity to go deeper, later).

What does a Paladin do when Nasher tells him to do something his god doesn't approve of?  There may even be an example you can refer to.

A Paladin of Siamorphe does what Nasher wants, because that's what Siamorphe wants people to do, follow the nobility. There is no possible conflict between the King and Siamorphe.

Hmmm. Well, let's think about this a moment. Where's that Faiths and Pantheons?
.
...Siamorphe is a patron of nobility, yes, but blue-blooded dynastic nobility.
.
"The descendants of noble bloodlines inherit their charisma and potential for wisdom from their noble ancestors. Their family fortunes provide them enough leisure time to be properly educated as rulers. The regular inheritance of noble titles by strict inheritance rules reduces the potential for power struggles between rival claimants to leadership."
....
It seems like swearing fealty to a base-born, rough-and-tumble adventurer who seized the throne (Nasher) would be an affront to Siamorphe, if anything. I think Nasher might look askance at one of his guardians trying to import a Waterdevian deity to his backyard, as well.

But you're on the right track, though. By Nobanion's Teeth, I think there may be a deity - LG even - who would be comfortable with supporting a lion-like ruler; and he's fond of Rangers, as well.

p.s. kevL : try Gold Bond.
