Okay I haven't been able to find any real help with this so far but I cannot get past the part in the gauntlet when you fight your party members and it is really frustrating me I haven't seen anyone else post about this so I'm wondering what the heck I'm doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Who is in your party? You should easily be able to defeat your party, get your tank to focus the tank, and focus damage anyone with healing spells. I think if you put your team on hold and go in on your own you only have to fight yourself and that really shouldnt be that bad at all.

You fight them the same way you'd fight any other enemy. Make sure your tank goes in first, as usual, and then take out any mages, then the warriors, and then any rogues.
Hopefully your party isn't made up of 4 ogres. That gets annoying towards the end of the game as they like to spam ram.

I'd just have them do mass Grabs and incapacitate the entire enemy party at once.

I see that you don't have a mage in the party (unless your warden is one?). With Wynne or Morrigan to cast heal spells and a tank that uses taunt, this encounter shouldn't be giving you much trouble.
I'd send your party after Alistair, "dog", and then Leliana. If your warden is a mage, then they should be the first target. If no mages are on hand, then just be sure to use health poultices before anyone's health drops below 50%, and have everyone attack the same enemy (set this up in tactics).
