Silent Hill 2. Can't even finish the thing because it scares the hell out of me.

One more vote for System Shock 2. It's one of the best games, ever. It does have enemies that suddenly jump on you, but much of the creepiness/scariness comes from the overall atmosphere. You're alone, trying to piece together the story from voicemails left by other crewmembers who are by now dead, or worse. Then there's SHODAN, the insane AI who keeps whispering to you through your cybernetic implants (which she considers the only good thing in your pathetic meat body), insulting you even while complimenting for a job well done. "You are a remarkable example of a pathetic species." Great memories...

Penumbra Overture, Penumbra Black Plague - damn, i had nightmares in a middle of a hot afternoon.
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (abandoned hotel)- got to this part at 3 in the morning. i turned off the computer. had to hold my bladder until the sun rises.

There we go! Penumbra, that's the name. I mentioned it before in this thread but I couldn't recall the name of it. Very, very scary. I was absolutely terrified at some points.

RE3 when I was young, I remember walking then all of a sudden Nemies will come out of no wqhere and I would almost crap my pants. It still makes me jump but what I find scares me is the enviroment and setting, which Dead Space and Bioshock scare the crap out of me. Like walking threw the destroyed corridors of Rapture to find a doctore ripping apart someones face or wlking outside in space when you know inside the place isfilled with strange killer aliens is more scary then a little girl jumping from shadows or these lame scare tactics that are used in game.
You need to make the place scary to truly scare a person, well thats how it is for me. Hell sometimes I get the creeps exploring some areas in Fallout 3.

Condemned is perhaps the scariest game I've ever played...only armed with a blunt weapon and a flash light in an otherwise completely pitch black building which has been sealed off with zombie like people running around inthere killing eachother to survive..............I borrowed it from my friend...he PAID me to complete it for him cause it was creeping him out so badly he couldnt get through the first level without having to take a walk around his house in daylight for a few minutes XD

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - that game was just messed up, Silent Hill - that game was disturbing, and while it was Corny Resident Evil had some very very creepy moments and its the only game I ever dropped the controller while playing... Stupid dogs jumping through windows.

I never played it, but I've been told that Eternal Darkness is really creepy/intense.

The reason why is because it played with your head. Things would happen to your system or your TV, or you would see things that did not realy happen. God I miss that game.

Silent Hill 1 to 3. I don't know about 4 and 5, that's because I just recently got my new computer. And my old one is really antique. And before I play SH, I play Dragon Age. And some older games I've not finished yet. I think SH 2 is the scariest of the Silent Hill games.
