Can enyone remember that planet in ME1, were it told us about a crazy volus billionare who "had visions of beings of light, who told him to look for a way to stop ancient machine deveils" on said planet? Thats the twist right there, these "beings of light" or whatever will show up. I'm expecting them to use this build up of dark energy through out the galaxy as portals of some kind? Maybe they'll be like the hologram on ilos?

**** knows, but i remember that planet and thought i'd share it with you all.

EDIT: I dont think that will be the twist by the way, but it will feature.        Somewhere

Piqued my interest so I googled it. The planet is Klencory. I would love to see this along with the Leviathan of Dis on Jartar and the Jupiter Brain on Ploba explored. It could add a billion years of very sketchy background history to the ME Universe.

The Leviathon of Dis was Sovereign, its in the first ME novel.
Theres massive spoilers throughuot ME without the player realising it. Take Klendagon for example, the "Great Rift" was obviously a result of attack by the Reapers, and waddya know, it shows up in ME2.
All of the above WILL feature along with Elatania and pretty much any other story you care to mention(dont wanna go into specifics, spoilers an' all)!

The twist is that the Reapers were actually acting for the good of the galaxy all along.

This is likely to be our big twist.

This. Obviously.

Sovereign used the god-like explanation of "we are so far beyond you." And Vigil states that "The Reapers are wholly alien... we cannot hope to comprehend their reasons/actions."

But, as Vigil said: "In the end, what does it matter? Your survival lies not in understanding them, but in stopping them."

Definately. I used to call this the "Bioware Gut Punch". Anyone, who's played KOTOR knows what I'm talking about. I've never been punched that hard sence. I guess we have one comming.

U just have a feeling that something massive in the form of a twist is coming our way as we learn more about the Reapers.

IMO finding out everything about reapers will just simply kill them.

ME1
"Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything."

see how nice that sounds? We don't know s*it and yet we feel afraid.

Compare that to "lol we need your bodies so we can make procreate which is basically the goal of every species" that we got in ME2

and see what happens. Honestly I think they will f*ck the ending up. They had a good buildup in ME1 but they totaly ruined it in ME2. TBH the only TWEEEEEST I can see is that they include the "you failed and reapers have won" ending.

It worked in ME1 but it wouldn't drag out for 3 games. Honestly, if they don't provide an adequate explanation for the Reapers, I'd take it as lazy writing not the other way around.

And you don't know if that is the ultimate goal of the Reaper's plans from ME2. For all we know, they could just be making a replacement for Sovereign so they can proceed with the original plan. I bet there is more to it than just reproduction.

Liara works for the reapers and is an agent like Saren. She would be the final boss in me3 -> That's your twist.

The only way to beat the reapers is to have the geth and quarians on your side. after credits, it teases that the geth become the new reapers. there was a line in ME1 that said soverign was many programs in one machine.

Wait, when and where was it established that Sovereign was the Leviathan of Dis?

I wasn't aware it was in any of the novels. Just wondering whether I can remove one of Chekhov's guns from the mantle.

This isn't a spoiler: We KNOW that we are going to win against the reapers SOMEHOW. That means, we are going to find a weakness.

I fully expect, that at least the salarian government knows about the reapers; Mordin wrote reports about them for the STGs, Maleon knew about Indoctrination. My theory there, is that the council has been planning against the reapers the whole time; they just don't want Cerberus to know what they're doing.

So, there is going to be AT LEAST one twist. I'm guessing, we have to do something really hard. It's not going to be as simple as calling The Cable Guy to upload a virus into Harbinger...

Harbinger: "I know you feel this."
Shephard: "How would you like to be filled up with Horse porn?"

I had that twist ruined for me by an unmarked spoiler. Would be nice to have that feeling.

I've been expecting the Reapers to be acting for the good of the galaxy all along for quite some time now. I think there's maybe a worse threat out there somewhere that the Reapers are trying to prepare for. But I hope that's wrong, because then it's like "incomprehensible Reapers!!! Oh, wait... their motives are totally comprehensible. They're not actually alien at all. They're basically Renegade Shepard."

I hope they can pull this off in an awesome way. Gonna be a tricky one because we've all had plenty of time to do our Wild Mass Guessing.

Salarians? Could be? Council? Definately not. While I would get the salarians feigning not believing shepard in ME 1 to retain some sort advantage due to the element of surprise, I hardly find it believeable that council would've just stood by while Sovereign was preparing to attack the Citadel. The least they could've done was to relocate themselves for the time being.

My theory all along is that the solution to stopping the reapers is to trap them out of dark space. They will then have to destroy all of the mass effect relays thus saving worlds but also cutting off contact between species and setting back technology and such for many years. In effect stepping backwards.

Shepard enlists the aid of Reapers from the Andromeda and Triangulum galaxies to wipe out the Milky Way Reapers. In exchange for their aid, Shepard agrees to go live in the Andromeda Galaxy and teach Team Andromeda how to be a badassssss.

This reminds me of the Hyperion novels by Dan Simmons.

No it is not clear as to what they are doing. It was only clear that the were making another Reaper, not why they were doing it. You do not know if that why the reapers kill off civilizations.

Is that a good series?  I've never read anything by him.

It's rather esoteric, if that's your thing you'd like it. Pretty non-standard narrative structure if I recall.

heres a twist

Female Shephard is Preggers and she doesnt know who the father is, gotta go through all of ME 1 2 and 3 Flashbacks to find out who it is! lol jk jk

Don't forget about going on the "Maury" show to test said "father".

Blasto, you are NOT the father!

But to be serious a moment, it wouldn't surprise me if they threw in a pregnancy.  It adds some dramatic weight, especially for a femShep - do you fight and risk the pregnancy?  For a male Shep, do you leave the kid an orphan, or get introduced to the kid in some climactic scene a la  "I didn't know I was a father"?  For the record, I hope there is NO such thing, since that is the bottom of the barrel, even for soap operas.

My guess is that, in the middle of a huge Reaper fight, a blue box appears, a gawky looking dude steps out and points this almost techno-wand at the Reapers.  There is a buzzing noise, some exposition on wibbly-wobbly stuff, the Reapers disappear, and the dude offers Shepard a jelly baby.

To which Shepard promptly tells said gawky dude to cram his jelly baby, the dude just pissed Shepard off.  :D

Yes they were using the Collectors to kidnap a bunch of humans to making another Reaper.

That doesn't mean that it's their whole reason for Reaping the galaxy. It probably plays some part in it but I very much doubt it's the entire story.

Shepard is the father of 60 children after all the aliens he banged.

You are now a mercenary, trying to earn money to pay off all the child support

If there's going to be a huge-ass twist, it might as well go all the way and be a huge-ass what-the-hell JRPG-style twist.

For example:

Millions of years from now, humanity has evolved to a point of deity-like wisdom. But for some metaphysical, inexplicable reason, they decide that such wisdom cannot be allowed to exist. They know too much. Therefore, they create an enormous race of machines and artificial intelligence, and trigger some kind of bomb which implodes the galaxy at its center.

As everything in the galaxy is crushed to a singularity, humanity is obliterated, however the black hole at the middle creates some sort of uber-Mass Effect field which sends the machine race (reapers) back through time millions of years, with the task of never permitting any sapient race to progress too far along the path of horrible, horrible wisdom!

And, of course, it's just part of the inevitable time-cycle that humanity survives the reaper attack to proceed into the future to create the reapers and implode the galaxy... WOooooOOoooOooooo!

etc etc.

Best. Theory. Ever. It's so outrageously crazy. Love it. ;)

The twist is that Dead Space is part of the Mass Effect universe

Telekenises is really a mass effect field and necromorphs are a form of reaper indoctrination

How blown is your mind?
