Aveline is not a better tank.

On topic: I don't hate him, i think he's irritating at times, but what is good about him is that he usually apologizes after his rudeness.

I hated him during my first playthrough, especially after his rant about magic after killing Hadriana, but on my second playthrough I talked to him more and ended up romancing him, and now I like him quite a bit.

On my first playthrough as a sarcastic rogue, I completely despised him. On my second playthrough as a mage I actually liked him alright. But I had a lot more fun hating him.

He's not exactly a bundle of laughs but I find him pretty useful. He does seem to dislike my favourite characters, though - but they give back as good as they get.

I pick Fenris the only one who pick Fenris.On my third play thru I used Aveline and really studied her tress and Fernis. Her trees set her up more as taking more damage and punishment than Fenris. If set up right she is very hard to killed.

Yes, he's kind of a dick sometimes. Especially with Merrill. The girl needs some scolding alright, but how 'bout something more constructive?

Still, I like him. One of Gaider's best creations, if you ask me.

First game: I thought he was a waste of space and never used him. I lol'ed at seeing Aveline kill him during the Last Straw.

As I did more games with him and actually did his romance I can appreciate him a lot more.
Still think he is a bit of a ******.

I can understand why he can be such a tool and while his history isn't entirely an excuse for him being that way, I get it.

Like when Kasumi says the same about Jack in ME2.

Okay, so he can be a dick but he really has a very ****** up background, I can't hate him for that reason...he also gets a pass for being a hot elf. It helps that I don't like merrill or anders.

I hated Fenris at first, but I grew to like him a lot more once I sat down with him. I still don't like the brood, though.

And so is Fenris, what is imporant is threat generation, what does it matter if you can take many hits if no one is hitting you?
Fenris beats Aveline with threat generation, magic resistance and damage output.
Go to the PS3 board on Gamespot and look up Ripstrawberry, he studies the gam mechanics and all the maths behind it all, I'm not that much into it.

Of topic i know, just needed to point out you build them wrong if you're serious about Aveline being better.

I really like Fenris, probably helped that I friended Merrill and then wanted to shake her after the end of her last quest when all she had to say was "Why wouldn't they let me help them?" for the creators sake Merrill you weren't helping them! You still can't admit you were wrong? AAAAAAHHHHH!

Yes Fenris is rough with Merrill... but after that last quest there's a cute bit of tough love too. He says "I'm only sorry she died for you. Let's hope the sacrifice of someone who cared for you that much isn't wasted." I thought it was really what Merrill needed to hear at that point, that the Keeper did care for her and she needs to stop doing stupid things that put herself and those around her in danger, or the Keeper's sacrifice would be for nothing.

personal opinions, remember?

1) Easily, he yells at PC every time he opens his mouth, as i mentioned in he start of the thread he apologizes most times, but they become meaningless when he keeps on growling right after.

2) He just have eyes, actually when comparing them to those of a animal i would have to say he's more like a cat, bleeding unpredictable, at one moment they lie in your lap and rest and the next they attack your nose.
What defines puppy eyes is looking like a puppy no matter what mood youre in, Fenris doesn't.

3) I liked that for a smex partner, but not for a love interest. When the act of lovemaking becomes as violent as wrestling i can't really see the appeal. Sure good for fun sheet aerobics, but i, or my Hawke's, won't be in that kind of relationship.

I never hated him. After a few runs I agree with him. (On Merrill that is)

Oh blood magic isn't evil its just magic like any other! Great....

I don't really need Aveline to tank. Fenris wipes the floor with everything so...dead things are better.
