I rivalmanced him with a mage and he didn't snap at Hawke unless he's already upset. Maybe it's because my Hawke was a silly/sarcastic Hawke and Fenris actually laughs/enjoys Hawke's humor
I mean look at this:

How can you hate Fenris?:o:o:o
How can you possibly deny the puppy eyes? Besides, have you seen the romance scene *wags eyebrows* He had me sold at the wall throwing:devil::devil:
![]()
...Actually, he had me sold at the awkward cough after the 1st flirt outside his mansion:wub:
1) Easily, he yells at PC every time he opens his mouth, as i mentioned in he start of the thread he apologizes most times, but they become meaningless when he keeps on growling right after.
2) He just have eyes, actually when comparing them to those of a animal i would have to say he's more like a cat, bleeding unpredictable, at one moment they lie in your lap and rest and the next they attack your nose.
What defines puppy eyes is looking like a puppy no matter what mood youre in, Fenris doesn't.
3) I liked that for a smex partner, but not for a love interest. When the act of lovemaking becomes as violent as wrestling i can't really see the appeal. Sure good for fun sheet aerobics, but i, or my Hawke's, won't be in that kind of relationship.
I can't help myself. (Besides, I love cats. It's a wonder Anders doesn't have a crush on Fenris with his cat-like attitude) And I have a weakness for men who brood and/or snark at everyone. I asked Anders during his romance if he wanted a sandwich in the hopes we could invite Fenris to the bedroom

I like to call him 'Tevinter exposition man' - he's got a lot of interesting info to pass on.

she at least tries to be kind to everyone I also agree that blood magic is just a too and it's how you use it.
Fenris is an OK tank and is a good counter to anders pro mage spiel but like anders he invalidates is argument by using his magic tat's to rip peoples harts out (you don't see the evil Merrill the blood mage do that)
but alas you in a loosing fight as the are meany more Fenris and anders fans and we can all be passionate about are NPC of choice

Then again, I could make a long list of people from both games that could really use a good slap upside the head.

As a love interest, he does nothing for me. Maybe he's too quirky? Too many grabs for sympathy? That can't be right. I'm over the moon about Anders, and he's even worse. It might be the Aerie syndrome. His past was tragic to a nigh-unbelievable extent and it left its scars on him, but his whole life is defined by those scars. He cannot look beyond them. He does know a pain more terrible than anything any other character in the game has known, but it happened in the past. He clings to the memory of it and flatly refuses to let it heal. Unlike Anders who will always be an abomination no matter what he does, Fenris has a chance at a new life. He swears that he's going to make one, but the life he makes is just like the old one, and it's his choice. He refuses to stop being a victim. That makes it very hard for me to feel sympathy for him.

That conversation can occur very early in Act 3. "Alone" is usually the first Act 3 quest I do, since it's so short. With Anders' rivalry, you can get him to admit he screwed up and later dialogue lines reflect this admission, but with Fenris, it's as if the conversation never happened. If he said "I probably should let it go, but I can't" even once after the last QB, it would be a lot easier for me to sympathize with him.
Perception is an individual thing. Sure, if a patch came out that introduced some kind of rivalry-specific changes to his post-QB dialogue, I would be happy to rethink my opinion of him, but I have yet to see anything in the game or in discussions about it to make me reevaluate my stance.
Gah, should have quoted text instead of just hitting "reply". Nevermind.

So I liked him, even WITH maxed rivalry. He was hard to like, but complicated relationship or not, he was one of my favourite characters.

His past is really tragic and I want to hug him for it. Like I feel bad for Anders, fudging up trying to help a friend. (but really who isn't tragic in this game?)
What annoys me, about Fenris and Anders as well, is you can't open their eyes for anything! You can not get them to even take a nudge outside of their little boxes it starts to wear on you. I love them both equally. I found both to be great character's my Hawke's would do anything for them. But oh man there were times where they were mere seconds from a plated gauntlet to the face.

MAKE THEM FREAKING HAVE A RATIONAL ARGUMENT. (And by make them have a rational argument, I mean yell rational arguments at them and force them to acknowledge them.)
Ok, Anders, Admit that the Tevinter Imperium is just as bad as the Kirkwall Circle, and that it's very important not to let anything like that happen in the rest of Thedas!
Ok, now Fenris, admit that mages are basically slaves, and that not being allowed to ever have a family or breathe free is a problem, no matter who it is happening to!
Now Anders, admit that Blood magic is bad, and a LOT of mages do do it, so some impartial third party has to monitor mages and make sure they don't do it!
Now, Fenris, admit that being treated cruelly and exposed to immeasurable pain and suffering your entire life does not, in fact, improve your attitude, and the cruelty that is currently shown to mages may be making the situation worse!
/stands fuming, fists clenching and unclenching at her sides.
ARE WE GOOD?
Ok. Well now, kiss and make up?

Two hardliners in one Group, who are very vocal about their opinions and don't seem to be able to acknowledge shades of grey. The likeliness of the two of them working together is rather small.
Merill and her "oh i am such a nice bloodmage" i can deal with, she might have an opinion but she acknowledges Bloodmagic is bad under some cirumstances. Neither Fenris nor Anders seem to acknowledge the possibility of being wrong.
So i really would want to toss them into a room, throw a dagger in there and close the door, never to be opened again.
