[Obsidian Gryphon]

I'm replaying ME again and for some reason, the char is stuck at level 50. This is a new install on a new rig so there are no other saved games. What's the bug? Btw, I'm using another game disc, not the old one.

As far as I recall you need to complete the entire game once to earn a certain achievement (I believe it's called the medal of honor achievement), which unlocks level 51 - 60 in future playthroughs. Using a savegame editor to enable this achievement should also work, if you don't mind cheating a little.

Yep, unless you copied a profile over, you'll be limited to 50 your first go. There's no save game editor for ME 1. There is an achievement editor though. Here's a link
