Has anyone considered that the trial could be a last ditch attempt to prove that the Reapers do exist? It is one thing for the Council to dismiss their existance off hand, but another thing for a formal court to do so. Hackett and Anderson are not the only ones who accept their existance. The STG seem to as well (or at least Mordin seemed to accept the threat very easily. Note that Kirrahe's team was on Vermire too. Even if they didn't talk to Sovereign themselves, they would have almost certainly have had access to all the Normandy's data.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the "Hackett set you up" conspiracy theory. Granted, he has shown there is precedence of doing this, but either he or the Aliance stood to gain from doing that. I'm honestly confused as to what these people think Hackett stands to gain from Shep becoming indoctrinated or being put on trial for exploding an inhabited planet or killed. The...satisfaction of being able to pull it off? I honestly don't know.

Dissension is followed by sedition, and then usually insurrection. Given how vocal in general you have been, you are not the type of person who if he saw inequality or perceived illegal actions, would just sit by and let it happen. To say "Anderson did jack squat" is dissension, to say he is ineffective is sedition. Given that your views fall outside the pro Alliance mindset, seeing such problems within the current organisational structure you would have no problems rising up against the Alliance.

I can distinguish the views of those that are different to mine. The thing is, in a group environment such as these forums for example, the individual idea is lost as they find others that think like them, and subsequently their individual ideas become part of the homogenized collective. Its the duality of the environment we exist in, Paragon or Renegade, if your not with one your with the other. Since it marks you as one or the other, the irony of Mass Effect being a two-party system is amusing to me.

  It doesn't make sense.  The main reason Hackett wants Shepard to stand trial is to avoid a war with the Batarians.  That's the only thing he and the Alliance stand to gain from it.  All else is based off some idea that the Alliance wants Shepard out of the way, and I just do't get what they could possibly stand to gain from that.  They other theory has Hackett indoctrinated or willingly working for the Reapers, and I see absolutely no reason to assume that.

Wow. You know what you failed at? Showing any sign of revenge inclination. And you went back 5 monthes to find that non-entitity.

Criticism of Anderson is not equivalent to wanting revenge, or to torture him. Grow a memory, learn to practice distinction, and stop being a troll assigning positions to people that you can't support.

Your challenge did not specify a time frame.

You did criticise him, yet, unlike some of your other posts you never provided any examples of why he might warrant it. And I didn't assign any positions, merely an observance based off your general posting habits.

my thoughts on the matter: from the way hackett is talking to shepard after the arrival stuff i don't get the notion to punch him, i really like him, one of the few people in the alliance brass who actually do something about problems, instead of telling themselves their own dilussional lies again and again like a certain human ambassador.
I think at the trial hackett will be "devil's advocate",. pro shep to the bone, as he should be after all the lackey work my sheps did for him over the years
