I bought the Dragon Age Ultimate Edition disk set this morning and have been trying for the last couple of hours to install it to no avail.

I put in the disk, everything seems fine, enter the CD key, also fine then when the game begins to install it abruptly ends at (21.2% - packages\\core\\data\\anims.erf). There is no message about corruption or anything like that, only that the dragon age installation has failed. This continues to happen over and over again.

I'm on windows Vista, I have enough room for the game to be installed. I've tried running in compatability mode for Windows 2000 and XP but neither of those have worked.

I also have dragon age 2 installed which plays perfectly and I never had any issues installing that.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what to do next, so any help would be great. Thank you.

If it is consistently failing at the same file every time, there might be a problem with the disk itself. You can use the CD key to register for the EA digital download version of the game and simply download and install it using EADM. Alternatively, EA support or your retailer would likely give you a new disc.

Using EADM is indeed an option. Before doing that, however (it's a 24 GB download)... you may try copying the entire contents of the first disc to your hard drive and running it from there. When you're prompted for the second disc, try running that from your drive.  Reboot after installing and before running.  Also, not that you do NOT have to install a patch...  UE comes with patch 1.04 already installed.

You'll have to have disc one in the drive to play the game, of course, since DAO does a disc check at launch.

Well, using the EADM worked to download the game and I now have it and all the DLCs but I keep getting the message they are currently unauthorized. I've authorized them on my account, registered the game, logged in and out of my account to make sure and it still tells me that they are unauthorized. I also only have one account so I couldn't have accidentally registered it to the wrong one.

I've tried typing services.msc in run and starting the Dragon Age updater, but I don't see that option in the list. Not really sure what else to do now.

Refer to Hemis' pinned sticky about DLC problems, at the top of the forum.

First thing is to reboot your computer. When that's done, launch the game and sit on the lobby screen (the one with the sword in the ground).

1) Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, launch the Task Manager, and go to the "Process" tab
2) Look for a process called DAupdatersvc.service.exe

If it is there, then there is something else wrong. Consult this link:
http://support.ea.co...s/showhome/true

If it is NOT there... you can try this beta fix:
http://supportfiles....ostic_beta.exe

The first link above to "support.ea.com" provides a partial fix , but when the DAUpdater service wasn't installed/starting/stopping as it should on my rig, I used the solution found here : social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/6093270.
Worked for me! :wizard:

Both to get the communication with the EA servers going to "authorize" all my DLC, and to correctly do so each time I launched the game without having to have an unnecessaary service running the rest of the time!

Hmm... worked this weekend.  I'll investigate.
