I deleted my player profile in the hopes of finally properly updating everything, well everything is updated, but I keep getting an error that my avatar and character picture cannot be uploaded. There is also a big black space where my characters picture should be.
Any idea how I can get the pictures to upload?
Edit: Well I deleted everything a 2nd time and now my entire profile is blank, so does that mean that I'm good to go giving the uploading profile another shot?
If you are on x-box, the picture files upload only on character creation. If they do not upload then, they never will. The solution to that, I suppose, is to not play a character when you create them. Wait until they upload to the site and check to see that all the picture files are there. If they are - start playing away. If they aren't, delete the character and create a new one. Rinse and repeat until the picture files are there.
Edit: Or, maybe, create several characters at once who are the 'same' - but give them different names. Wait until they upload and check for pictures and so forth. You'd be more likely to have at least one that has all the necessary files. Keep that one and delete the others.

Mine has not updated in soooooo long. New chars have no image and others just don't change. I tried MANY MANY times to change equipment, etc. but no change.
I'm not sure if you tried this, but I'll include it anyway:
Delete you characters from your profile, in the 'manage characters' page. Start DAO and play each of the characters, making a new hard save in a new slot (not a quicksave and not over an old save). Your characters should then upload again, hopefully with the missing picture files. Make sure you are both logged in and connected to the server before starting to play.

I've been playing since launch, for both DA and ME2, and I've got nothing....wtf?
* Are you playing while online, logged in, and connected to the server?
* You may have a problem with routers. Some people need to except them.
* Have you made a firewall exception for the game(s)?
* Have you checked the FAQ for some of the reasons that this may happen and the solutions to the problems?

New characters have not appeared for quite a few weeks now with only a few achievement updates showing so it's definately connecting with the server.. Did all the usual stuff, firewall exception, disabling online options and re-enabling etc.

Okay, are the new characters showing up in your profile diagnostics page even though they are missing from the player profile page? If they are in the diagnostics page, they have uploaded, but not updated. That means that you either need to wait patiently until this occurs, or have someone other than yourself view your profile, since this prioritises updates.
If they are not in your profile diagnostics page this indicates that they are not uploading at all. So there must be some other problem - have you checked your router to see if it's blocking things?
Edit: I just checked your profile and there are 7 characters there. Should there be more?

I didn't have a problem until a few days ago. I think I know what caused the problem but I don't know how to fix it.
I had one character from the game - DuranDuran, dwarf noble, yada, yada,
I had one from the character creator after I got the game (to get the ring) -
I played through my first game (DuranDuran)
I started my second game, with a character with the same name as in my char creator (Ransom) - my profile with achievements HAS updated but my character info (Level, kills, etc) and Potrait did not update.
I deleted the portrait for ransom from my profile here on social. As soon as I did that my other potrait (DuranDuran) does not show up - I get the red cross in a box (there is still a black box in my profile picture page too).
So I waited a few days thinking it's a quirky site, but nothing has changed.
How do I fix this?
cheers, Ransom

Between characters and screenshots you have used at least 48 storage units. Perchance, have you used all 100?Floydian1973 wrote...

No I cleared some screens off I'm using 60 out of 100.
Have you checked that 'upload character profile' is selected under Options - Online? I would assume that you have, but it's worth including for the sake of being sure.
Are you starting the game from the Launcher, not directly from the DA .exe?
Are you logged in and connected to the server?
Have you checked that your firewall and your router are not blocking the game data? You may need to make exceptions to these.

Me again, when I do profile diagnostics now I show green checkmarks across for both my characters - yesterday there was an X for ransom's portrait. I still have error 1005 for both characters - but I think I had that when I didn't have any portrait problems.
Still - my profile only shows one character (DuranDuran) -- even though I have acheivements for my second char showing up - and both my portraits are still borked.
Anything I can do other than pray to the Maker?
cheers, ransom

If the second character is showing up in profile diagnostics, but has not yet shown up on your profile page, that means that they have been uploaded to the site. It should just be a matter of waiting until they appear on your profile, which may take some time. You can expedite that by getting someone other than yourself to view your profile or by viewing it yourself while not logged in.
How many files do you have on the server? It's very easy to hit the 100 maximum if you leave screenshots to upload automatically. And if you do, your profile will no longer update.
Have you checked in your document/bioware/dragon age/characters folder to check that the picture files are actually there?
Console users have a known issue where if the picture files don't upload on character creation, they never will. This does not apply for pc users. If you're on console, it's best to wait after creating a character to see if the files all upload correctly. Don't play the game with that character. If the files don't upload correctly, delete the character, create another and try again.
As for the 1005 error, that just means extra files. It doesn't really cause any problems - unless the number escalates (I had one character who ended up with over 30 files, and that pushed me way too close to the limit). In that case, I just deleted the character from my profile, played with character and made a new save in a new slot, and waited until it uploaded again. When I checked, the number of files had reduced but wasn't down to four yet. I did that several times until I got the correct number again.
Edit: I just viewed your profile page, so I can see you're on pc, so you can ignore the console part. And my viewing should trigger an update if there is no other problem.
I seem to say this a lot: profile updates are prioritised. Those people whose profiles are viewed by persons other than themselves are put on the top of the list. Those persons whose profiles are not so viewed are bumped down to the bottom. This means that your profile will not be updated until after all the 'popular kids' have had their profiles updated. Or maybe never, if you keep getting bumped down over and over. If you want your profile to be updated regularly, someone who is not you must view it regularly. So have a friend view it, or view it yourself while not logged in (thus tricking the site into thinking that someone else is viewing it).
2nd Edit: Just viewed your profile again, you now have 2 characters, both with pics. Good luck.

It seems like you've done all the right things. I hope you get the updates soon, I'll try to remember to check your profile again later today, I just checked it right now.
If the characters have showed up in profile diagnostics, they should appear on the profile page eventually.

It's not about popularity, it's about efficiency, and it's an entirely logical solution to a potentially massive problem in terms of server load. The solution as implemented may not be optimal but it's very unlikely it will be removed (however, optimisation is not an impossibility).Floydian1973 wrote...
I do think Bioware's policy of priority updating 'popular' people is ridiculous all I want is my character updated if I want to be in a popularity contest I'd open a facebook account.
Since your problem started, do you know if you have been able to upload characters via the Character Creator (and if so, what happens if you play with such a character?)?

Popularity may not be quite the right word, which is why I put it in inverted commas initially. But if it was all about efficiency, then why not 'first come first served'. Even if no-one other than myself looks at my profile page, I payed the same amount of money for the game that those who have 50 people look at theirs did. I should have exactly the same right to have my profile update - and update with some degree of alacrity.
Perhaps you disagree with that, but that's how I feel about it. If I've paid the same money, I should get the same service, regardless of how many people view my profile page. So, it may not be about how popular I am - but it is about how popular my profile is. If I don't have friends to view it - I'm deprioritised.

[Edit]
But I certainly agree that the service should be available equally to everyone. There's just no need to waste resources providing the service to uninterested parties.

Well the one character from the stand alone creator has now appeared on my profile? So that at least proves there's nothing blocking it from this end. Now the mystery is why the actual game has stopped uploading characters.
Well, that is certainly is a mystery, and I'm afraid I just don't know what the answer is. Although someone else may.
As far as my knowledge goes (not very far, admittedly, because I'm not a techie) you've done all the right things and done all you could to make sure the game uploads correctly. I certainly hope you find a solution.
Have you tried contacting EA/Bioware? Or, perhaps, posting in the PC Technical Support forum?
