My last update was 11-28-09 and doesn't seem to be updating at all.

Frequently when I open up DA:O I get an error message that says: A server error occurred while attempting to access your on-line storage".  This occurs even though I always show as being logged onto the Bioware social network and can connect with my player profile.

I started a new char which doesn't show and my 3 existing characters haven't updated in days. Urg....

Tried to link my Bioware account to the EA Account I created when I got the 360 version of the game on launch day (preorder). From everything I can see, it's linked, as in when I login to DA: Journeys with my EA Account, items show up in my Bioware Master Account profile. BUT:

IN GAME:

No online dlc from Character Creator or DA: Journeys is showing up

Character from Char Creat not there

IN PROFILE:

Shows Char Creat and DA:J content, but nothing I've bought/downloaded from the game

No chars created in game are showing up

No achievements

Tried entering the UPC code to "register" the game through this profile, but says it's invalid, which is probably because I already registered it through XBOX Live. I have been online for hours looking for a solution, which has been fun because this website is so damned screwy it's nearly impossible to navigate. I can't post in any of the standard forums, send any messages, etc. Can't even change my portrait or add a status. But I digress.

I'm posting it here because it seems to be an updating issue, from the XBOX Live Dragon Age Servers to the Social Network Profile Servers, rather than an actual registration issue. It said it could take up to an hour for everything to upload to my Social account, but it's been way past that. I'd rather them have just stuck with the good old tried and true Bioware forums, this is freakin' ridiculous.

These two should be completely separate. The former is strictly for accessing game owner only services on this site, which includes posting in closed fora, ability to download toolset, and a direct link to your DA profile under My Games. I admit I do not know how the consoles work but I believe what you have done is simply register the game to your EA account, which... doesn't really do anything (makes you eligible for EA technical support? I don't know). In other words, it does not affect your game's ability to upload data to this site.

The UPC code should be 12 or 13 (13 in Europe and Australia, I believe) characters long, and when it says "you do not need to include dashes" it really means "don't add dashes." I don't know if the error message for a used code is different but that might also be a problem.

Yes, it's showing its ugly side right now. For what it's worth, I'm sure this will soon be solved; it's just unfortunate that it's such a core part of the website (but it should work in the latest Firefox, Chrome, and maybe Opera).

Achievements are stored separately and therefore show up much faster -- often almost instantly -- than character data. That they do not show up is a good indication that something is preventing the console from communicating with the servers. The character you do have is made with the CC, yes? If you check Player Profile -> Screenshots in the game, what does it tell you about storage space? You are supposed to have 4/100 files (characters take 4 files, screenshots 1).

Since Dec. 3rd. the site is supposed to display the Xbox Gamertag/PSN Name currently associated with the BioWare profile, for people with more than one of either (it should also show on the code redemption page). Can you see this, and if so, is it correct? Obviously you do have a working EA account but in addition to making sure that that account is associated with your Xbox Gamertag you need to make sure that Xbox Gamertag is associated with this site (does your husband play on the console under a different account?).

Also note that there is a known bug specifically with the Xbox version where it simply fails to upload anything. This is a game bug and must be patched. AFAIK, there is no easy way to tell whether you're affected by this or not.

I am having a problem getting my character data to upload from our PS3.

The problem is that my wife and I have separate PSN logins (different users on the same PS3), but only one Bioware account. (Mainly so that she wouldn't have to make characters under my PS3 user to have access to the DA:J items I'd gotten.)

The problem is that this site is only uploading data from *her* account. I expected it to pull from both, though I can understand why it doesn't. But it should really be pulling from my profile, and there isn't any way that I can see to point it to mine instead of to hers. Any idea what I need to do?

Thank you SO much for the swift response!  Long time no see, Snoteye!

Okay, so I finally got the UPC thing to work (just kept trying and eventually it went through) so the game is registered with that.  Ve shall zee.

I figured it was something like that and I was unduly harsh, as this is a new thing here with the social networking thing.  It's redundant to voice frustration over items like the FAQ links not working, but there you go...I have faith as a stalwart Bioware Fangurl that it will eventually be fixed.

Mmkay,  both Manage Screenshots and Screenshots are totally and completely blank.  Nothing anywhere on them.  I'm not even sure you can take screenies with the 360.  It's not something I've even remotely looked into.

Okay, it's not there, so I bopped on over to the EA.com website to see if I could associate it from there.  Logged in using the same email I used when I registered my game over Live, have used since I started this tragic social network thingie, etc. and it says that the gamertag is already taken.  Any way I can find out what that gamertag (Tomokata) is associated with or please for the love of all that is holy do I have to go through EA "Customer Support"?

UPDATE:  I registered yet another number found with my game at EA, the five digit code on the back of my game manual, and now DA:O is showing up in my registered games.  Now I've entered three different registration codes for this thing.  Does anyone at EA see a problem with this, or is it just me and my plebian mind?  Anyhoo, still no DA:O content from my 360, but I just did it, so maybe it'll show up eventually.  I'm still looking though.

Oh.  Just lovely.  Yaysers.

Clicking 'update' on the persona page does not work. Links to for instance friends and other games can not be clicked when mouse-overed.

There are TONS of issues with the site right now, links all over the place not working, etc.

Come to think of it, I have read that it is PC exclusive. I do not know of any other places to see storage status, unfortunately.

I really don't know. I would assume gamertags are unique but maybe not. I do believe that you cannot reassign gamertags or PSNs to an EA account (or is it the other way around?), so that's something to keep in mind. Do they not appear on EA's profile page?

You might want to load and save the game in the meantime. That is supposed to signal the uploading.

Is any Xbox version owner able to see their gamertags listed either of the places mentioned in my last post?

I got some results recently here too. PC version. None of my toons show in my profile except the first and second guy I made. I had like 8. Here's what I did.

Started the DA updater manually as administrator. Logged in and deleted my first guy from my profile and the game. Deleted all my screenshots in the profile. Made a new guy using the CC,( I never used it before). Uploaded him upon character creation. Started game, in options disabled upload screenshots. Played for 5 minutes, saved. Swapped out to my browser and bang, there he is.

wtf? All well I guess I'll delete all my other toons now that I know what to do. They all sucked anyway. LOL! Hey, I was learning the game still.

Personally I think they should make the system more discreet with the uploading of images. I mean you got 600k+ people trying to upload a gazzlion kbs of pictures at once, I mean come on what did you expect? Even God's mainframe would choke on that. Pfft.

I'm having the same issue as well, it still shows my Dalish Elf at level 1 when she's beaten the game already. >>; Not to mention every time I load up the game I get that damned error message.

Not an Xbox owner, but I am a PS3 owner and I *do* see the PSN accounts in the places you mentioned. In fact, from the "Redeem Codes" page I'm able to see that it *is* recognizing both my wife's and my account, it just hasn't uploaded anything from mine. So that leads me to believe that mine is just stuck in the usual way, so I'll start trying the usual fixes with it and see if that works.

Thanks for your help.

this is tricky - the entire site and infrastructure is built to assume one gamertag/PSN name per EA account.    The 'redeem code' page actually works on the EA account and doesn't care about the PSN name, so that works for you.  But the character syncing can (currently) only work with a single PSN name per account.

Please PM me with details of how exactly you are switching between 2 different PSN names and how you attached them to the same EA account (keeping in mind I don't own a ps3), and we will look into what is going on with your account and ways we can make the site work for you.

Well I thought I had something working but its been 21 hours since it last updated my character, basicly when I first made and upload him. I've tried everything that has been suggested here and in the other thread, I give up. Its really not worth the frustration anyway. The game works, I got all my DLC after hours of nonsense, so frig it, going back to playing.

Can't leave a dead horse alone, so I'm still here pluggin away at these problems. I dug deep back into these forums and found a thread where someone did a network test and found DAO was trying to access a port that is not listed in manual, readme, or FAQ. I opened this port on my router, and now my characters are updated to current status.

I have verfified this several times over the past 24 hours. The port is 18081.

I wish I could find this guys thread, to thank him, and bump the hell out of his thread because he's the man. Alas though, his thread is buried under a sea of "WTF!!!! this sux!!" threads and I can't find it.

So my question to Bioware is, is this a coincodence, did you fix something in the last 24 hrs, or is DAO really trying to access an unlisted port to upload character data?

I'm pretty new to this game - I've only had it 4 days - but so far none of the 4 characters I've created in game have shown up here.

Their achievements, yes. The characters, no.

PS: Has anyone actually decoded the meaning of that message to Corvus Black?

I don't think my char has updated for more than 2 weeks. I currently show not having any characters. I tried deleting the old ones from the site profile to see if that would unclog the drain. It didn't. So, even the forum avatar is from a character that doesn't exist. It's a complete mess now. I'm sure it was all a good learning experience for the architect involved though. I bet their next site kicks butt.

Oh, and if I select Games | Dragon Age Origins | Official DLC the page returned says

An Error Has Occurred
You do not have permission to view this page.

The URL is http://social.bioware.com/page/da1-dlc

Also posts and edits to existing posts show up late.   As in, too late.  Shouldn't take that long.

Is EA IT support on strike? I have been kind enough to look past the EA logo for years because there is always a catch to purchasing a title endorsed by them. This is probably the most annoyi--no, getting an unprovoked temporary ban during the opening week of Warhammer was the most annoying. Anyways, I digress. Please fix this upload/character data issue immediately? Thanks!

I love you guys but I don't want to resort to reading books for entertainment again just because you think you can save a few pennies on sh*tty/lazy tech support. Don't make me choose!!

P.S. - I knew things would only get worse after Road Rash 4. I just knew it.

EA support is currently so back logged because its been swarmed. My friend is having a great deal of trouble with his account and DLC, let alone the character profile. Its been five business days now, and he's still waiting for the tier 2 support. Tier 1 of course is usless.

Had a rough day with no updates, but stuff seems to be trickling to the server again. However, I'm having an issue with all my characters on the PS3: Everything else is getting updated (story, gear, etc.) but profile/avatar/full body pics remain the ones that were made at character creation - no changes in gear is reflected on the appearance.

Error 1005 showing up, too.
