Darkspawn, we ask you to change to your old look. You are too cuddly now.

really? Because I can open my mouth pretty damn wide. I make faces at people as I drive by.
I should have stated that this is my interpritation of how the taint works at a scientific level, for that I apoligise.
I've always presumed that the taint work as a disease, that among other things, eats into their bones (similar to Leukemia), which alows then to all look the same/have big cheek bones/open mouths wider and so on. Think fo it as Leukemia that forces (de)evolution.
That's always been how I've seen it, seeing as how little info there is on the actual change.
If anyone from Bioware wants to let us know if my crack-pot theoryis correct that would be quite handy.

The darkspawn aren't infected humans, though. They are entirely separate species, born from the broodmothers. As such they don't undergo any transformation, they have mouth like that from the get-go.Ad Dugg wrote...
No one else seems to think about it, but have a look at the pictures of the Darkspawn's face and compare it to a humans, their faces change shape when they become infected. Also look at how wide they can get their mouths when they scream, it's not humanly possible to do that as a human/elf.

I actually didn't care much for the old Darkspawn at first, but I was won over in the battle scenes when you see them decapitating folks and slitting throats and just looking menacing and disgusting. I couldn't really imagine the new Darkspawn doing that without looking absurd.

Wait, what! So the taint doesn't turn different people/creatures into Darkspawn? I thought that's how Brood mothers were created and blight wolves and such. Damn over 500 hours into both games and I've only just found that out! It's Santa all over again!
The Taint turns other people/animals into ghouls, but not 100% pure blood "darkspawn." I always thought of it that the Taint sort of changes a normal human/dwarf/elf/animal as much as it can without killing it, while a darkspawn born of a broodmother is from the very beginning a darkspawn with only trace elements of their base race coming from the race of the broodmother. I'm pretty sure Gaider went over this a bunch in the Origins forums back when the game was released. But a broodmother is just sort of an advanced/special ghoul that will create the 100% USDA Approved Darkspawn.

What does the second pic have to do with anything?
I just now noticed this comment of yours but I just thought it was funny. That's why I put the link there instead of the pic. Had no relevance but I found it somewhat amusing

I'd also wonder how the hell he got into my house, but so long as he isn't the clown from Stephen King's IT I'm not as terrified as I would've been were it him.

What if it was Heath Ledger's Joker? While he licks his lips in that creepy manner?

but there were some times where Heath Ledger's Joker made me laugh because of things he had said.
Batman: Let her go!
Joker: Very poor choice of words! *laughs and lets her fall*

The Joker = Best part about The Dark Knight. I think Batman Begins is a far better movie, simply because it focuses on Batman, instead of Harvey Dent.

They're real and don't seem at all comic book like, a problem the prior ones and especially the original series had. The prior movies were really good at the time (well, save for Batman and Robin. I think that was the one with the Governator) but they just didn't feel right
They're very dark.
The acting is beyond well done. It's just superb
No Robin.
Many more reasons, but no robin is definitely one of the better ones. I wonder who the villain for The Dark Knight Rises will be.
Heath Ledger's performance was just astounding, and so was the guy who played Dent (can't remember his name. But I think he was in Thank You For Not Smoking)
