I love both movies for various reasons.

They're real and don't seem at all comic book like, a problem the prior ones and especially the original series had. The prior movies were really good at the time (well, save for Batman and Robin. I think that was the one with the Governator) but they just didn't feel right

They're very dark.

The acting is beyond well done. It's just superb

No Robin.

Many more reasons, but no robin is definitely one of the better ones. I wonder who the villain for The Dark Knight Rises will be.

Heath Ledger's performance was just astounding, and so was the guy who played Dent (can't remember his name. But I think he was in Thank You For Not Smoking)

Bane, Catwoman and a younger Ra's al Ghul.

This thread had already derailed so I'm not derailing it myself, though admittedly I'm hardly helping get on track either.

Always had crush on her as kid. Plus she had super powers, batman is meh in comparrison being the equivalent of inspector gadget imho relying on gadgets to seem cool. Also was never as much fun once they switched from "pow" "wham" stylings of the TV series.

Darkspawn in lycra anyone? ~See and now we back on topic. :D

Yeaaaaaaa, you cant speak for me lol. Seriously though, Other than their armor, I liked the "new" darkspawn look. Basic Darkspawn in Origins had two standard models (not counting armor because that's cherry picking results lol) A "tall" one, and a "short" one. Every "type" centered around having one of those two models. Everything from Emessaries to to Grunts.

Looking at DA2, (Ogres notwithstanding to be fair as well) I can count...*takes a moment to count* at least 3-4 different models used for basic "bi-ped" Darkspawn. Even Emessaries had their own "unique" model this time around. Given, the options may not be spectacular, but when you put them next to Origins, it's at the very least the same in terms of variety when you throw in Ogres and such as well.

I also like the new Emissary look. I just dislike the Hurlock Soldier look.

I'd also like to say that one thing I loved in DA2 was that when the ogre in the Deep Roads charged at me and ran his head into the wall, he actually got stuck in the wall and struggled to free himself. That made me happy because it was a little thing that made the game seem more real to me.

How is Superman not related to the Darkspawn????

the new DLC will give you (hopefully) a new talent, summon Superman, if you use it in front of Hurlocks he will use his superpowers to rip the freakin clown masks from their faces so that their super dreadful looks appear again:wizard:

I think if they "dirtied" up the current look so it was closer to the Disciples and then added a couple different armor models, the Darkspawn would be awesome. The current armor looks a little too uniform.

And to add to your Ogre example;

I also like that as well. I also like that you could actually "dodge" their attacks this time around as well and they werent pracically "autohit". If you saw the ogre getting ready to charge in DA2, you could actually get out of the way and it would miss you. Where as in Origins, if an ogre was getting ready to charge you, you may as well say screw it and take the hit because that's exactly what was going to happen lol

I liked that too, but there were still cases of enemy attacks still hitting you despite moving out of the way for certain enemies. The Arishok comes to mind.

Yep, I cannot count how many times in DA2 where I literally was able to move totally out of the way of the ogre, yet he still knocked me down. Both games offer the chance to move out of the way though and if you are in front of the ogre when he is commited to his attack, then both games, you get hit.

I was able to dodge the Ogre safely in DA2 without getting hit

But no matter what the Arishok's attacks would still damage me sometimes

Not really.  In DA2 I can still get out of the way of the attack and still not get hit by it as long as Im not standing there when the charge gets there.  In Origins, this window was small if not nonexistant most of the time.  The Arishok is the only exception to this rule in DA2 that I can immediately think of.

I could hardly ever dodge the rock throw in Origins. I would move out of the way, but still get hurt if not knocked flat.

Exactly lol...One of the biggest things I loved about DA2.  But back OT though.  For me, it's not their faces that make them seem "cuddly" but their armor for the most part.  (If that makes any sense)  My biggest reason though for liking the change is because in Origins they looked waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too LotR'ish IMO.  In fact, when I first played Origins and during the scene at Ostagar where the Wardens and Darkspawn met on the field, my wife came in and asked me if I was playing Lord of the Rings.  It was at that moment that I realized how hauntingly similar they were lol

you see I've watched the LotR movies like 20 times (psh who hasn't?) and I just never once saw them as similar to Orcs, Uruk-Hai, or anything. And even after people said they were I never did.

And even if they are similar in appearance, so what? They are different creatures with different mindsets and different M.Os. DA already has similarities to other things, like the WoT series. What's one more similarity in looks going to do? They are still radically different creatures.

If the Darkspawn are supposed to be a threat to the land, then they should reflect that in their appearance. They should seem threatening. But they aren't in their DA2 incarnation. Not to me anyway.

I didn't find the Darkspawn from either game particularly threatening. The DA:O rendition had a few cut scenes going for them that showed Darkspawn killing humans, but they still looked silly to me. And they never really fit what I thought of from what the ore describes them as. Updated and upgraded Disciples would be awesome.

I actually liked the old darkspawn look better. The ogre was fine in DA2. I liked the old emissary better too - I don't know why they were trying to make it look so much more distinct from other humanoid hurlocks.

Yea I love this aspect as well but it is still in DA2, but not as noticeable. When fighting golems, when they do the..."falcon punch" attack, you can't move out of its range. It will hit you no matter where you are if they begin casting it and it isn't interrupted, unless you resist it or whatever.

Bane and Catwoman, yes, but I doubt he'll go with Ra's again, especially since Chris Nolan has avoided anything supernatural in the Batman movies thus far. The only two confirmed are Bane and Catwoman.

As for the guy who played Dent: Aaron Eckhart, who was wonderful.

On Topic: generally, I like the redesign of DA. I like the color pallete  a lot better than in DAO. I think they went with a little too muted colors in DAO.

I do think the new darkspawn hurlock is a good base, but as I said before I'd go more mummy like and maybe more Mummy like (as in the Brendon Frasier movie morphs used for Imoteph).

I don't find bleach white skin to be all too threatening. Kinda pale I can deal with but bleach white I just find silly.

Personally, I think they should use what I thought of a few pages back as the reason for the coloring of mindless Hurlocks.

The taint affects their pigmentation and everything and makes them seem that color, and when they become Disciples and have the taint weakened their pigmentation starts to act normally. And then they start to turn somewhat pale, like the Disciples. They weren't bleach white in appearance.

And where were Bane and Catwoman confirmed? And who's playing Catwoman, do we know?
