Darkspawn, we ask you to change to your old look. You are too cuddly now.

I don't like how the emissaries are randomly huge now. Are they ogre emissaries? I liked it better with different emissaries for different races. Miss genlocks and shrieks as well, but I suppose it's acceptable enough considering how you don't fight a whole lot of darkspawn in DA2. (then again, you fight them enough to find quite a few ogres and emissaries, who are supposed to be rarest of all, right?)

I don't find bleach white skin to be all too threatening. Kinda pale I can deal with but bleach white I just find silly.
Personally, I think they should use what I thought of a few pages back as the reason for the coloring of mindless Hurlocks.
Maybe a little green as the skin peals off.
The taint affects their pigmentation and everything and makes them seem that color, and when they become Disciples and have the taint weakened their pigmentation starts to act normally. And then they start to turn somewhat pale, like the Disciples. They weren't bleach white in appearance.
And where were Bane and Catwoman confirmed? And who's playing Catwoman, do we know?
EW among other places. IMDB also has the list of cast. And Gary Oldman has been quoted as saying Hathaway looks fantastic in leather. Hubby also reports that Oldman has said that this one will be the best of the three...

While epic, it would've been horribly disturbing.
And Filament, when I see the bolters' helmets I think of Raiden.

Also, I just found a picture of a Nexus mod that is more likable (though I abhor the noses that the new DA2 darkspawn were given in the game. Needs to be changed too) than the DA2 incarnation of Darkspawn:

Oooh, that could work. Still pale, but dirtier. The armor still needs work. More models.

The noses still look odd. And the armor needs to go bacl to the rusty and filthy armor they wore in Origins. Not this neat and tidy spiky armor.

Agreed. The armor in DA2 is the only thing I ever found similar between the Darkspawn and the Uruk-Hai. Compare the two:

When I saw the bloated faces in the beginning I knew I had to watch it from start to finish.
And when it got to 3:07 my reaction was "Yes! Yes! Ohmahgawd YES!!"

more people have shown that they prefer the old design over the new. Which isn't to say that there aren't people who like the new design, but the majority seem to want the old look back. I'm actually surprised this thread went to 13 pages in one day.

The only elves that didn't look good were the Kirkwall citizens (both the actually designed ones and the ones that don't blink and you can walk through), Nyssa, and a few others.

[sigh] Nepp, the DA2 elves were redesigned, elves/=/ darkspawn.
What I'm suggesting is they come up with various combinations of morphs and show them to a focus group on the forums, and let them take their pick. I think of it this way, if alistair was received badly in translation, why wouldn't people also moan and whine about a translation of oldspawn design to the DA2 engine?

That was a joke, if you couldn't tell.
They're the same engine, Just a different way of rendering due to the higher polygon count.
But that is a good idea.

Doesn't bother me too much now since darkspawn plays a very small role in DA2.
They really need to expand their variety of monsters in this franchise. It's becoming a Saturday morning Disney show.
I do however like the new Elf design. Sets them apart as a separate race, not just humans with pointy ears.

Darkspawn: They looked ridiculous and not even remotely scary or intimidating. I did, however, like their uniform armor and weapons. I feel like they improved in that regard. I would like to see the Hurlock commanders wear a full armored variant of the Hurlock armor we saw in DA2. Other than the arms+armor, I think they should look at using the Origins designs, and possibly improve on them.
Qunari: Are freaking sweet in DA2. The only thing I'd like to see change about them would be for them to have variable facial features, (They all looked the same) and to be playable in the next installment.
Elves: They all looked horrible. Even Merrill barely managed to look acceptable. I did not like the redesign for elves at all. I'm probably biased slightly because I played DA2 just after (re)playing my buff, hook-nosed City elf in Origins, but I would really prefer they go back to a more human appearance. In Origins, I could identify an elf because they had pointy ears, a slightly smaller build, and their faces were generally more angular and keen. That's good enough to set them apart from humans. With their current set-up, I think it's impossible to look at an elf and see a bad-ass (My warden) or someone that fits the human concept of beautiful, because they all look goofy.
I think fixing the elves is especially important if there's even the possibility of us being able to play them again in the next installment.

Before I played DA2 I had just finished up my Mahariel playthrough in its entirety and when I saw how the elves looked now I was just amazed at how great they looked. I just hope that they'll let us, should the Warden reappear, re-customize the appearance to be as close to what we made them in Origins as possible. Meaning hair, beards, skin tone, complexion, hair color, tattoos, noses, etc... need to be returned.
Otherwise, give him/her a helmet.
