So, it's true. The legends about people liking the new elves are real indeed.

Ok, this is a matter of pure personal taste, but I really dislike them. After looking all the images (even the modded ones) I'm sure that I have the worst issue with that nose. I can handle the donkey-ears and the pale-ultra slender body -but the nose beats me.

But I hate when people compare them to Na'vi, as I've always proved that stance wrong.

But I noticed a few pages back the argument that the old darkspawn are nothing but cheap ripoffs is still coming from those who refuse to acknowledge that there is nothing of the sort going on. It saddens me.

This post I made weeks back attempts to illustrate quite clearly the differences between Hurlocks and their nemesis, the Tolkien orc. Heck, the new darkspawn would have more in common with Tolkien's orcs than the old darkspawn, but nobody seems to realise that.

Personally I never saw the resemblance to LotR with the Origins Darkspawn either (but I did mention that that seemed to be the argument given by fans of DAO back then), but damn Genlocks were laughable in Origins. They were broken and in need of fixing. And imo the new Genlocks did right.

I agree with all of this, the only thing that bothers in about DA2 genlocks is that theyre the same, off-white colour that the hurlocks are, they should be that dark-brown colour the hurlocks are in DA:O

I blame Ostagar and the heavy scene borrowing from Helm's Deep. If the spawn weren't introduced that way I think half the people who complained wouldn't have realised anything.

The genlocks were meant to be based off dwarfs so I see the design behind them, but tbh I haven't seen anything of the new genlocks besides the one screen of a giant thing with a bigger shield. Any more screens so I can decide whether or not to just throw in the towel on protesting against the heavy handed redesigning?

Actually it does look pale, there but the pic i was thinking of is the hurlock at ostagar, maybe its the lighting but it does look sort of brown almost dark maroon like rotting flesh

Lighting is to blame. The scene takes place in a storm so they appear darker than they really are

@ Ethereal Writer Redux- After looking at those comparison pics, i noticed how far the DA2 hurlocks mouth is open and the weird shape of it is, really weird (and bad)

Yeah, DA:O genlocks weren't even darkspawn to me. I thought them goblins. New ones are much ferocious.
About the hurlocks: I'm actually one of the few people who like the DA2 redesign, but it did not stop me from disliking the armor. It just seemed too symmetrical and "clean" for a wild horror of the underground.

I think something along the lines of this pic of goblin berserker (plus some chest armor maybe) I found would fit the darkspawn grunts much better.

Holy starched knickers! They seem to be normal-ish sized then? Much more... animal-like, and a complete u-turn from DAO genlocks. I take it they've forgotten how to use ranged weapons as well? I don't know, I think the baby's done got eaten by a gator in the case of darkspawn redesigns.
