The Darkspawn were always pushovers. Look how many the Warden smashed through in Origins.

Mechanics-wise they're on par with other enemy classes in DAO (except for the finale where almost all are set to "critter" power level)  The Warden smashed through many of them because it's what the player is expected to do, and he/she also smashes through many humans, spiders, werewolves etc.

In plainer terms, power-wise the DA2 darkspawn are equivalent of DAO climax darkspawn, while i'd rather them to be like the darkspawn in main part of DAO.

Meh, I always found the majority of them to be mook level. It was the alphas, emissaries and other elite troops that poised the challenge. Plus, you have to remember that Darkspawn backed by an Archdemon are more powerful than ones without. Without the influence of an archdemon or freed from th calling, Darkspawn are mindless. Mindless enemies are not what I would call a true threat. And I mean completely mindless. Like badgers.

What do you think a ghoul is...

What they mean is, that's what happens to animals and humans who come in contact with the darkspawn. But it doesn't actually say that the darkspawn themselves are ghouls as well.

Fair enough. I actually forgot that when tainted other races don't turn into darkspawn they die. Thats where my error comes in.

Hurlocks aren't special.  Hurlocks come from humans, and Genlocks come from dwarves.  Shrieks from Elves, and Ogres from Qunari.

And I also want to know how Genlocks develope the ability to use magic.

Lorewise, Hurlocks are supposed to be tougher and more formidable than the Genlocks. Genlocks were the endless numbers of cannon fodder while the Hurlocks were commandos, Shrieks were assassins and Ogres were shock troops.

so the taint could be the reason why they don't appear pale like normal, non-tainted people/creatures?

That's all I need to know and is more reason why I want the old look back.

There is nothing to suggest that the taint alters pigmentation. In fact, most of the tained ghouls look paler than usual. Sickly, with sunken eyes.

when you're sick you always look pale. The darkspawn aren't sick with a disease. They're immune to the effects. Different things

And what if they were pale when they were tainted?

But they aren't special.  They're just different classes.

Not as much mindless, but having a literally one-track mind -- the archdemon's song forces them to focus on searching for the old gods above all else.

And anyway since you meet quite a large part of the darkspawn while they are under the influence of the archdemon and with the Blight going around, that makes the pondering what they're like without one around rather moot...

Darkspawn are dead rotting creatures, for skin to become more albino like they would have to for a start ~be alive and they are not. The skin is dead hence the rotting and rotting skin does not change colour pigmentation due to lack of sunlight.

I'll tell you one thing, women would kill to have an anti-age/wrinkle cream like the darkspawn have obviously discovered between DAO and DA2.

DL, they aren't dead... Rotting yes, but not dead. Better to say they're imnical to what we consider life. Dead would make them something along the lines to undead, which we've been told they are. The new hurlock faces do look like mummies:

http://en.wikipedia....94_fh000031.jpg

Remember that Darkspawn are born, with the exception Broodmothers.

What I would have done is something more along the lines of having the armor and weapons rusting on the models, no chain choif, and whisps of hair as if it were falling out. It's times like these I wish I could draw so I could post what I'm seeing in my head.

In DA2, the only Darkspawn that you meet while the archdemon is still kicking are those in the very beginning of the game.

What if they were? That still doesn't suggest that the taint would have any effect on pigmentation. There is no real reason for the Darkspawn to be anything other than pale.

In cases where there's no Blight, IIRC in the codex, it's the broodmothers who command the various factions of Darkspawn, and again IIRC only the broods they've bore themselves.

Yes, that's the ones i meant.

Additionally, there's one extra factor to the darkspawn without the archdemon overseeing them being turned into bunch of mindless puppies that one can swat about with their eyes shut and hands tied behind their back -- it makes the dwarves who's been supposedly trying to fight them and losing ground for hundreds of years in-between the Blights without the world above them knowing it... look like a bunch of sissies.

and even those weren't enough of a threat. they were easy too. The only one that posed a challenge was the Ogre if you're a mage and everyone else got their asses handed to them. Then you have to run around in circles screaming like a little girl.

Sokay, though the taint does transform females, but from what we've been told that more of an... er active process than just catching the Blight.

Yeah, I would change their armor and create a few different models so they aren't a wave of clones. The smooth complexion should be roughed up a bit, maybe make it look more like a very gaunt human, but I think the pale skin fits.

I like the Elf design. They look more other and less like thin humans with pointy ears (shakes a finger at the Eregon movie)

Except the dwarves deal with massive hordes all the time. Those hordes are just worse during a Blight. As I said, small groups or individual Darkspawn aren't much of a threat. Its when they group in mass that you have to worry. Like zombies really.
