Why does Alistair keep saying "My love" to the male Warden?

I'm currently doing a human noble playthrough but Alistair keeps say "my love" when I switch to him before combat.  His status is 100+ (Friendly).

Is there anyway to fix this? It was funny at first but it's kind of annoying now.

I'm wondering if this is some kind of bug that is going to glitch the game?

Just make sure you lock your tent at night.

He does say that to a female warden. Does your warden have "feminine qualities", which might confuse Alistair?

It must be a glitch, as I have yet to encounter this situation in any of my playthroughs as male wardens. Zevran is the only male who swings both ways.

He always says that to me as a male and yeah, it's kind of annoying.

He's heterosexual, so I can only guess that you're playing as an elf and have him a bit confused. I say you should seduce him and surprise him with a "Crying Game" moment.

I'm still fairly new to the game, but small mix-ups in the dialogues appear to be fairly common, from what I've seen.
I've witnessed one of those 'casual' dialogues where the same character is providing both the questions and the answers, and I've seen a character simply never responding in a dialogue while the other character happily continues...
And I was amused when Morrigan and Leliana were already in the middle of a fight with rogues, but continued there conversation about what king of neckline would be suitable for Morrigan's dresses...

Also, my elf warden has a catchphrase 'Can I get you a ladder, so you can get off my back?' That's suitable when he's approaching an enemy, but he says it also when he's picking up an elfroot or opening a chest; clicking on anything that's interactive makes him say this. So he comes across as somewhat schizo.

It doesn't bother me all that much, really. I think the game makers have been pretty keen on getting the plot sensitive dialogue right. They must have put an awful lot of code in to get every bit of dialogue pop up at the right moment, I'm forgiving towards glitches in the less important dialogue.
Although I have to admit it's a bit cringeing to be called 'my love' every time, oh yes.

OP: Think he says that when you max out friendship with him. He says that to my female warden (not romanced) at max level approval. Or so I've noticed.

It's just a glitch that happens occasionaly if you have 100+ Friendship with Alistair. ;)

That seems to happen to me every time, it's weird and I agree it's kind of annoying. I'm surprised Leliana (all of my male Wardens' one true love) hasn't become suspicious...

Solution: Either purchase a sixpack or a cattle prod.

I had a funny glitch where I started playing as a dwarf noble rogue and decided to switch to dwarf commoner in at redcliff, I kept the same name and apearance, excluding the face brand. I was then able to speak to everyone in the game with the dwarf noble options, like claiming to morrigan that I was noble, and also to alistair.
I figure that the game was confusing save files or something.

I had a similar experience, but my first file was city elf rogue, and the next file was elf mage. Other than Leliana asking me about living in Denerim, I was identified as a mage from the Circle.

Don't ruin Alistair's groove, he's happy. I wish I could get that kind of scenario with my female Wardens and Morrigan.

I don't have a solution for you, but I do have two questions...

1. What version of the game do you have (PC or console)?

and

2. Did you download all of the patches?

I have the PC version, and Alistair never came onto my male wardens.  I assume it's a bug in the game.  Excuse my complaining here, but Bioware didn't come out with very many patches for DA compared to, say, Neverwinter Nights.
