In the "Thank You" thread, we received some screenshots of the upcoming DA2 DLC:

In the mean time, though, I stumbled across a few images I thought I might share with you folks. After all, there’s been a lot of requests to explore areas outside of Kirkwall, and I agree that seeing some more of the
Free Marches would be cool.

Also, there seem to be rather a lot of….are those griffins?
I think they might be!

What it made me wonder was whether this would be a story that would take place within the seven year arc of Hawke being in Kirkwall, or after the events of the story's conclusion. We know that DA:O DLCs Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, and Stone Prisoner included the companions because it was within the timeframe of when the Fifth Blight transpired, while Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak, and Witch Hunt excluded them because the events were over.

Although I had some problems with DA2, one of the things I liked was the companions. I'd like to see them come back for DLC (which will hopefully provide a more proactive and intelligent Hawke), and I'd like the DLC to be an opportunity to learn more about the companions. Does anyone feel the same way?

I didn't really like the companions in DA2. They were almost universally obsessive and one-dimensional. Made worse by the fact that interaction with them was done in brief, shallow snippets.

As for the DLC screenshots, their presentation reeks of shiny baubles meant to distract from larger concerns, namely the huge flaws in DA2. But who cares, here have some griffons!

Does DLC take place after DA2 main quest line? ------> Yes -----> companions are a must.
No ------> Don't care, it doesn't change the horrible ending.

I agree.

Although I liked Varric, and to some degree Aveline. For the rest of them, I'll gladly lock in a wood house soaked in gasoline and set it on fire while throwing chunks of C4 at it.. Then laugh as they die horribly.

Unless the DLC is free, not interested. Game is too flawed to put any more money into it.

I'd rather bring the old companions back than introduce shallow new characters (they have to be shallow by virtue of how little time you'll spend with them) like Arianne and Finn.

I thought the banter was like they were best buddies and out of place for a group of people who pretty much just met.

I keep wondering why haters even lurk these forums anymore. Enough already? It just seem kind of weird and pathetic tbh, hanging around on a forum when you don't even enjoy the game. Don't you have anything better to do?

I would like the DLC's to include the romance options and explore them more. Other then that, I trust Bioware to deliever.

I respect your right to teabag DA2 to death with love and praise. So respect mine to ****** all over it.

EDIT: Sorry, LobselVith8. Didn't mean to derail your thread. Continue!

Not wanting to debate the character interaction in Witch Hunt, I'll just say its just their personalities gelling so well.

Personally, I'd love to see them return. Though I doubt that would happen since they'll probably set the DLC after the companions scattered to the winds. They'll also probably have a line that explains why your romance options isn't there.

"I heard you travel with company! Isabela isn't here?"
"Nope, she's drinking at the local tavern."

So you can go into threads and simply say "Don't care"? Why even bother? Why just not post at all in those cases? You can bash DA2 to your heart's content in a lot of threads and it would be part of the discussion.

So asking the question in the title only allows for responses in the positive?

Well, my theory on that is, most of them still have some affection (however damaged it may be, and some hope--even if only a shred remains that BioWare will pay attention and work on making DA3 better, much better than DA2.  Maybe they feel tthat the people who hated all over DAO on the forums were listened to, while the rest of us were off playing the game and as a result we got DA2. So this time, the feedback continues.

Or maybe they like the intelligent and fantastic company. To debate and agree to disagree. Or they could be on here to just be trolling (seen that too).

Or all of the above, none. or I could be talking out of my arse. *shrugs*

If the DLC doesn't have Isabela or Merrill in it I'm not buying it.

No? But coming in and saying stuff like:

Was it necessary? It's not ontopic, you could go in any other thread.

Now look at me further dragging it off-topic.

I prefer new companions for a DLC if the only reaction/interaction we get from the regular companions is like the silent ME2 party in Lair of the Shadowbroker.

Any DLC that will have Bethany in it is instantly golden in my eyes. Unless Bioware finds a way to stuff her in a fridge in said DLC... Image IPB

The return of Isabela, Varic, and Merrill would also be rather nice.

But I didn't just come into the thread saying that for no reason. It was a response to a question posed earlier; you know, part of a threaded open conversation.

I like it when you talk out of your arse. You do a spot on Robin Williams impersonation.

DA2 is the first game I ever made an effort to voice my displeasure on an online forum. And I like listening to Cutlass Jack's intelligent essay's on pirates. Plus Erynnar's impersonations.

I'd prefer to see varric or aveline if there must be a companion DLC. They were the best developed characters in DA2. Cloud, the emo chick, and the pirate hooker can sail off.

I just remembered that moar Bethany in any DLC would be beyond awesome, as I really enjoyed her character.

Yes. I was replying to StartOrange.

And too bad you don't like my opinion of Dragon Age 2's companions, and my ambivalence about them featuring in any DLC. Deal with it. If OP only wanted affirmative answers to their inquiry, they could/should have stated so.
