I just remembered that moar Bethany in any DLC would be beyond awesome, as I really enjoyed her character.
Does anyone else want the companions to return for the DA2 DLC?

Word.
Eh, who am I kidding, I'm buying any DA2 DLC immediately.
I am done with DA2, but if I were to want a return character, I'd say Varric or Aveline and maybe Isabela. Simply because I thought V&A were the most well written characters. Merrill just didn't fit the persona she had in Origins, IMO.

And too bad you don't like my opinion of Dragon Age 2's companions, and my ambivalence about them featuring in any DLC. Deal with it.
As for the DLC screenshots, their presentation reeks of shiny baubles meant to distract from larger concerns, namely the huge flaws in DA2. But who cares, here have some griffons!

I'd love to see more Bethany / Carver, though I doubt it because not every Hawke has them. Which makes me a sad panda.

You're right, it did. Congratulations on being able to follow the thread of conversation. The premise of the thread is the DA2 characters featuring in DA2 DLC; I expressed a distaste for the DA2 companions and disinterest in the DLC. I was about to say I'm sorry you find my opinion disagreeable, but I'm not actually sorry. OP didn't say they only wanted to receive positive affirmations, and it seemed like they were surveying opinion. So I responded.Dave of Canada wrote...

No, I didn't, but I do love that avatar, I don't why, I think it is the catchiest one you've used to date. Anyway, my choices still stand though from my playthrough experiences. If they come out with a really convincing expansion, I may consider it.

You showed a disinterest in the companions which makes sense with the topic, though you turned it into simple bashing of the game. You can pretend otherwise but I don't think this (quoted below) means "disinterest" in DLC, it has nothing to do with it except a thinly veiled attempt to insult the game in an unrelated thread... for... well, for no purpose.

"Cool story, bro."

Nor did he ask you to go "This DLC is a distraction from how flawed the main game is!".
Did I tell you that you can't have an opinion? No, I didn't. I said to take it to a thread where it would be ontopic.

We definitely need more of the remaining Hawke sibling in the inevitable expansequel, given their severe underexposure in the game. Cullen I'd also like to have with me for once.Dave of Canada wrote...

Although Varric would be a nice addition, I do not think it's going to happen since he is probably far to busy teasing seekers with his chesthair then attending to some perilous quest.

I'll no doubt still buy it either way, but it's the difference between 'right away' and 'somewhere down the line'.

Having them come up with new companions just for a 1 hour DLC is pointless. You have a bunch of companions already that you either came to love or hate, so let us use them and build up on the relationships that are already there, not try to quickly sqeeze in new ones that won't matter past the current DLC anyway.

the companion in DA2 did not really make a lasting impression (unlike DA:0).
Basically having them would be a nice to have, but i'll be just as happy if they were not there.
that being said it could be a good ided to develop them a bit more and save us to have a bunch of retarded companion as in the Golems where as having your old crew would make the "golem" a tad more playable at level 30 in ninghmare.

I didn't really like the companions in DA2. They were almost universally obsessive and one-dimensional. Made worse by the fact that interaction with them was done in brief, shallow snippets.
Absolutely agree.
The only one that seemed real at all was Varric.
Isabela and Aveline, though stereotyped, still had doubts and issues and I could connect to such people.
Merrill, Anders, Fenris and Seb?
God no, please lose them somewhere and never let them into the DA series again.
Obsessive, one-dimensional, immature, basically dumb, etc.

So 3 possible companions to return would be Aveline, Isabella and Varric - The most likely of the three

*starts trying to figure out which piece to give them...*
Honestly I think all companions would return as well, companions but then through the course of the DLC/expansions they leave the group. Like as you do main quests they start to leave, save for your LI
#47
Posté 30 mai 2011 - 12:19
I like the idea of the companions leaving one by one, but that would be a nightmare to implement. Your LI stays with you, but the rest leave? Fine, but that would mean 4 separate versions of each DLC to accommodate the one who stayed.
Mostly, though, I don't want to play Hawke unless his/her lover is there. In my games, that's going to be Anders or Isabela.

I liked them, instead! And I disagree that they make less an impression than the DAO companions.Corto81 wrote...

But I concur that they become obsessive, especially in the third act.
Especially for the mages/templar main topic, the story provides plenty of bad (and good) examples of both sides, but they continue reiterating the same arguments for 7 years, that's frustrating.

So, yes. Use existing companions instead. Would be good.
