As someone who only rated the game between a 7 and an 8, I actually enjoyed the companions and considered them to be the best part of the game.

And the only time I will EVER be interested in seeing Oghren again is if there is a DLC that shows Varric kicking his butt.

The Varric character has proven that a dwarf does NOT have to be a drunk to be fun.

The "everyone but the love interest left Hawke" thing makes it so new companions can show up.

And a simple way out of the hiring of four different actors is a nice hand wave like...

- A note tells Hawke where the love interest is.
- The plot strikes the love interest into a coma and Hawke's mission to reverse that.
- Each one of them has their own mission to do and will return later, Hawke gets a mission during this time.

I mean, if cutting corners is their angle they made it so they can do that. None of the companions remained with Hawke after DA2, so I won't hold my breath to see Varric again.

if you don't have any love interest, your new home would be empty. easy as that. or maybe the could/will add romancable new companions. the whole your old LI stays at your home fragment should only be a small amount of the dlc. the main part should focus on a great story about whatever. therefore new companions are a better solution for bioware. but they simply can't just ignore your old LI imo, would anger lot of people =(

I've said it before and Ill say it again;  I dont care what they do honestly for DLC just so long as it's not another Leliana's Song or Darkspawn Chronicles.  As much as Varric is my bro and everything, I wouldnt even like to see a Varric-centric DLC like that.

As far as I am aware it is impossible for Hawke to kill either Varric or Aveline and neither have super expensive celebrity voice actors so I cannot see why Bioware would not be able to get them back.

Brian Bloom (Varric) did some voices for Golems of Amgarrak and Kasumi's DLC in ME2, and he can't die so seems like someone they could easily get back if no one else. Aren't he and Mark Meer Bioware employees?

I THINK Aveline can die if you side with the mages but don't have 100% friendship/rivalry... don't quote me on that though... Sebastian can't die, that is if you actually have the DLC. But according to canon anyway he can't die. Anders and Fenris' voice actors did a lot of work with Bioware before so I can see them returning, Isabela and Merrill's are another story though...

QFT!

If the DLC is same time frame with the game, then ...  a DLC for companions alone and not Hawk is another:sick:
Hawk without a Li companion is the last straw, This is NOT the Warden.
I want to see more about Thedas, get US OUT of kirkwall, please, with our Li and varric.:wizard:

Yeah but Varric lies...erm, excuse me..exaggerates. So he could be lying about not knowing where Hawke is. As to the others leaving, Varric didn't say they didn't know how to reach Hawke. So it's open as far as I can see. A lot more open then killing Leli and having some lame excuse how she comes back to life (same with Anders and Justice).

I would love to have Varric back. I admit, I loved that guy.

Id like to see them further develop the companions from DAO and 2 before introducing more. At some point keeping track of who did what, and who stands for what gets a bit tedious. And for DA3, I think its safe to say the Hawke and the Warden are sufficient. Please, no more protagonists for now. Guess we ll have to wait and see.

I had the impression that most of the DA2 DLC would be integrated into the main story, but I suppose the only promise so far is that it's all Hawke related.

That said, I strongly support more interaction with the current 9 companions rather than just moving on for a single DLC mission. (As great as some of the DAO DLC companions were, they would have greatly benefited from more screen time.)

I'd love an "at sea" DLC with Isabela.

Do want.

Sans her offer to keelhaul my Hawke though.  That sounds...painful.

Honestly, if they can get the band back together for the DLC I'll be happy. Heck I'll be happy with just the LI and Varric too, But I liked them all... except Seb, whiny little rich boy.

I want all of them to return. I don't want to be alienated with a new bunch of characters... I also want an option to marry our love interest pre-or-post main game.

Although I liked Seb most the time, he's way too fickle.

No problem, discussions happen. It's not as bad as the mage v. templar threads that swallow entire galaxies.

I just remembered that moar Bethany in any DLC would be beyond awesome, as I really enjoyed her character.

I'd love to see more Bethany / Carver, though I doubt it because not  every Hawke has them. Which makes me a sad panda.

Considering that one of the screenshots looks like a Warden stronghold (because of the griffins), I'd imagine having a sibling who became a member of the Grey Wardens would make sense. It's possible the reputation Hawke has (mostly due to Varric's stories) could put him in a position to get the Wardens to ask him for aid, especially if Bethany or Carver are members of the order.

When the story came to a conclusion? when did that happen? lol.

Anyway if the dlc takes place after DA2 then the problem would be that manyof the companions could possibly be dead or hate hawke for him betraying them. I like the idea of new npcs but still wouldn't mind if they had cameos and maybe one of the old companions is a party member in the dlc / xpac.. as long as it isn't Fenris...Hate that guy lol. I doubt Merrill, Fenris or anders will return as companions in a future xpac or dlc since they are all killable. Varric is highly likely though since you cant kill him and he never seems to hate you even if you rival him lol. Sibling also unlikely, Maybe Aveline since although you can make her dislike you i dont think its possible to kill her.

So 3 possible companions to return would be Aveline, Isabella and Varric - The most likely of the three

Jennifer Helper, who wrote Sebastian, said his character would be addressed in DLC, so I don't think it's impossible to see a return of the other companions in the future.

The Ethereal Writer Redux wrote...

If they don't make Merrill return as a companion if she's your LI, I'm marching straight down to Bioware's HQ and giving them a piece of my mind!

*starts trying to figure out which piece to give them...*

Honestly I think all companions would return as well, companions but then through the course of the DLC/expansions they leave the group. Like as you do main quests they start to leave, save for your LI

That's possible. It could also be true that Maraas might be a potential companion, as you suggested in another thread.

Regarding Merrill, I can't imagine they would have the same excuse as Leliana meeting the Grand Cleric of Ferelden or Zevran dealing with the Antivan Crows since Merrill is already an exile and her clan would likely be gone either way.

The Dragon Age hate is pretty stifling sometimes. Also, whats wrong with Ohgren?! Its Steve Freakin Blume man! Spike Speagel as a dwarf! Or Wolverine! That guy is a legend of voice acting.

As an FYI, Aveline can get booted from the party in act 3. Varric is really the only one who can't get lost. I'd say bring back Varric AND Ohgren! A warrior and a rogue. All you need is a mage companion and the party is set!

Spike, of Cowboy Bebop? Now I know why he's so good as a Berserker - the bad guys keep calling him Vicious...

Maraas, Saarebas, the Arishok, and Sten are my favorite Kossith. They've said some pretty profound things.

I really liked Maraas' line: When you stand for more, more stand against you.

I keep wondering why haters even lurk these forums anymore. Enough already? It just seem kind of weird and pathetic tbh, hanging around on a forum when you don't even enjoy the game. Don't you have anything better to do?

I would like the DLC's to include the romance options and explore them more. Other then that, I trust Bioware to deliever.

The money I spent on these products gives me every right to express myself anyway I see fit. *points to the badges under his avatar*

I respect your right to teabag DA2 to death with love and praise. So respect mine to ****** all over it.

Yeah except after a certain point you start sounding like a whiny, petulent child who can't shut the hell up about a video game, that made you sad. I mean seriously, how old are you? If you're anywhere over the age of fifteen, you should peobably know how to handle dispointment better than this pathetic display.

As for the subject, yes I want them to return. I hated the constant shifting companions in DA:O's expansions.

Thanks for the compliments.

Now your whining about my whining, what does that make you?

Stated before, Varric(best character in DA2, better than hawke) and Aveline are the only two decent characters, the rest can burn in a fire.

Need more dwarves, since they didn't eff up the art style of them like the elves.

Still better then you by a longshot, as after I'm done here, I'll go back to not caring who you are. You'll be whining like a little brat for god knows how long.
But hey, good effort on the "NO U".
Besides telling you to shut the hell up once, is hardly whining. You on the other hand, have probably never passed up the opportunity to cry about DA2.

Even if in future DLC, expansion or full fledged game sequels, we are not playing Hawke, I'd love to see Varric return.

My second favorite is Aveline, but unless it is explained very well why she left the guard, much as I'd like to see her again, I'd prefer she stay true to character and stay in Kirkwall with the guard.

Varric is a must have. Those little things he did to secretly help out companions endeared him to me. Sometimes you just need a good likeable character in games, sort of a safe good guy among all the angst and betrayal themes.

So its agreed with people who like DA2 and people who hate DA2, that Varric is a character we all like.
