Sorry I couldnt find an answer elsewhere so I started a new thread..
It Installed fine, Then crashed at configue section. So I downloaded patch 1.01 and 1.02 and installed them both.
Now I get to the launch page and the Splash background and then the computer goes black screen and crash's
Ive tried reinstalling it 4 times, Started as Admin , Compatible to XP and still all do the same . And according to the cpu all my drives are upto date.
Help?
Here are my CPU stats

AMD Phenom II 920 Quad Core 1.6
4 Gig Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Conexant CX20671 SmartAudio HD
Im not sure what else is need in sys info so ill leave it at this.

Steam, EADM, Disk, or other download version? Have you installed DirectX 9.0c? What is the revision of your Catalyst driver on your video card? What is the driver revision of your sound card?
Its also worth noting ta Wni7 isnt on the suppotred OS list of ME1, as it came out after ME1. Sometimes it will install and play with no hassles, other times, you get problems like this.

Did you install DirectX9.0c from the disk? ME specifically requires hat version, and will notwork with DX10 or 11. Vista and Win7 are capable of running DX9 side by side with 10 and 11 without problems.

Yes when it came to the install DX9 it did do the install process.. So i was assuming that it installed And according to the sys info it has got dx 9...
Ive tried reinstalling it again and still crashing..
Could it because it has saved it in Program Files (x86) and not regular Program Files ?
Im not sure
But getting frustrated not being able to play ME 1

I don't recognize anything from that. What is it in Catalyst sequence numbering? The current driver is an 11.4, I think.munnz wrote...

An "8.7" would be three years old?

8.712 i think is the revision that is given to it in the DXDiag report. It gives a similar number for nvidia cards, irrespective of actual driver revision.
The only other thing I can suggest is to make a shortcut to the game executible itself, and try and run that as admin and in xp compatibility mode.
c:\\program files (x86)\\bioware\\mass effect\\binaries\\masseffect.exe
