The biggest badass in Mass Effect is Conrad verner. A normal lowly man, becoming Shepard and carrying on his work for two years? That's both badass and extreeeeme.

...It takes a lot of talent to ****** off the three major gangs in Omega to the point where they begin to work together.

... If you read his dossier in the Shadowbroker DLC, you realize he is much more ruthless than you see in game. He keeps details of how he killed certain targets, making the killings appropriate to the crimes. He really, really hates slavers.

But Shepard is his inspiration so who's the true badass?

Garrus isn't even half the badass Saren and Nihlus were. I do like Garrus but catchphrases and talking about reach and flexibility and also headbutting Harkin isn't enough to make him so.
Nihlus died getting shot in the head with a handgun. Garrus survived getting shot in the head with a rocket. So I think your math is a little off.

Didn't Garrus go through a hatingself phase? No badass does that.

Wrex kicks Garrus' arse....

Nope, I agree. Wrex was my ultimate go to teammate in ME1. Carnage blast all the way! Garrus was a close second. He did pretty well with the sniper rifle in ME1 but to keep things simple I often had him use the AR as a bullet hose when the number of badies got extreme.
In ME2, I brought Grunt along a lot as a damage taking tank but he could dish it out as well. Garrus wasa regular as well and I alternated him between sniper and AR though Zaeed was brought along a lot too.
Basically, in both games, Garrus was a close second but generally I go for the teammates who possess a quad!

As far as Batman goes, Liara is Batman. She gets the squinchy eye thing going, and you KNOW bad things are coming.
Desperately want to see Liara in a cape and cowl screaming "I am the night!" now.

This list, except I'd put Garrus over Thane.
Zaeed + Jessie > everyone in Shepard's crew, including Wrex. Hell, including Shepard!

Jesus Christ, I hate your signature. Thanks to my obsessive obligation to watch the full duration of any .gif I find, I had to sit here for ten full minutes reading repurposed Chuck Norris jokes. Why are there so many? For a while I thought it would never end.VampireCommando wrote...

In the ME universe, however, Garrus earning the status of Baddest Ass Ever to Do Ass is hampered only by his inability to fully utilize air quotes.

Yep. Along with Geralt, Auron, Renegade Shepard, Jim Raynor, Wrex, Canderous Ordo, Minsc, J.C. Denton, Dante(DMC), Jon Irenicus(dat voice!), Vernon Roche and so on.
Irenicus was pretty damn badass (and very sexy). Can't believe he slipped my mind.

He's been working on his flexibility, after all.

I'm sure his air quotes will have superior reach, allowing him to quote longer words. Size matters.

As a woman, I say how you pronounce those words matters just as much.

I dunno. Women seem to care more about multiple pronounciations.

I don't think you're capable of pronouncing even one word right. How will you manage a harder to please english teacher?
