They're not going to patch away fundamental problems with the game like recycled areas, I don't see how you can expect that. What other problems would you have rather they worked on beside that and beside combat issues? Imports? They addressed that. The story itself? Not happening...

And I do think the changes they made make the game better, in fact. Especially that they fixed the right mouse button issue, which was the most annoying by far for me. But also the combat tweaks.

And dudes, there's always combat balance modding if you dislike it that much.

I've totally got plans to boost the blood magic stat, to .5 mana/health at least, if not back to 1.

That's not applicable to those fans who are use the consoles.

So how are warriors? Is the nerf as bad as I feared or are they still as effective at killing things?

OMG, shut your damn cry hole already and go to the other RPing forums if you don't care about the gameplay. Luke has already mentioned that the crap YOU want fixed has nothing to do with the gameplay items.

So you were complaining how all abilities got nerfed and it was going to be too hard, but now that it's actually easier you're still complaining...

I am complaining that this is a complete waste of time that IMHO probably makes the game worse (or at best not any better) and completely misses why the game has failed so badly (and it HAS failed badly....just look at the sales figures!)

If there must be such a comprehensive patch, then fix what's really wrong with the game and there has been more than enough feedback for the Devs to know exactly what that is (and the combat system wasn't one of them whatever it's balance imperfections which ALWAYS will exist no matter how many patches you do).

-Polaris

I'm not sure they can introduce a reactive and engaging story with a game patch...

Seriously though, since you say the Devs know exactly what's seriously wrong, what is it that is seriously wrong?  They're doing what they can to tweak the game they have already.

For me, the serious issues have to do with the story.  The only *other* thing they could potentially address is companion armor (as in, they're not restricted in what they wear), but that would at the very least negate armor upgrades, probably still be very hard to do, and they obviosly wouldn't have the armor textures for the various companions...

Console players are always going to have to suffer with playing the game as the devs intend them to.

What really gets my goat is PC players who complain when they have access to mods that mend the perceived issue. If I were a console player, it'd ****** me off to hear PC players whining about stuff they don't actually even have to put up with.

I don't think there's anything like a consensus on that the "real" problems are.

I know what I think DA2 does badly, but I don't see how you could fix most of them with a patch.  In fact, the only one I think you could fix with a patch - the speed of combat - is combat related.

How do they patch out waves?  How do they patch out the voice?  Or the paraphrasing?  Those are DA2's problems as I see them, and they're not getting fixed with a patch.

Isn't it his gameplay with the latest patch that Ian is addressing, including how it simply seems to prolong the "waves" of enemies that many people have taken issue with? It's not like Ian is the only person who has an issue with the latest patch and how it changes gameplay for players.

He's beening whining about story fixes, immersion issues, lore issues, etc.  You're another one.  How many times are you gonna mention Vigil's Keep and the Architect croaking?  Start another post somewhere else, these things are unrelated to game balancing.

Didn't Mike Laidlaw mention the waves of enemies in his "Thank You" thread? Maybe you should facepalm him, and everyone else who complained about it since Dragon Age 2 came out.

Actually, I really enjoy that too. I talked about you one time a status update, and someone was all "He just used firstblight to give his weapons 100% and stuff."

And I was like "lol no."

It was great.

How about this one (which is DEFINATLEY game-play): How about a "toggle-off" switch so we don't have to do that damned prologue combat every time we start a new game! That should not be hard to code.

I thought IanPolaris was addressing what he saw as problems with the 1.03 patch and the gameplay issues pertaining to said patch. I suppose the fact that you disagree with him must mean that a civil discussion is simply impossible. And no, I'll feel free not to mention that a product I purchased is flawed as soon as the issue has been rectified.

For the umpteenth time in this thread: this patch makes battles quicker, not longer. It doesn't prolong anything.

And judging by your previous posts, its pretty clear that you will continue to believe what you want to believe, regardless of reality.

Lob,

I will admit that some of my concerns are theory-crafting at this point but I was far from the only one that is deeply concerned that weaking the CCC combats and severely limiting the max damage per hit that LTs and Elits can suffer will drag out combats (esp for warrior-mage combos). That is most definately gameplay and the only thing I've heard to counter the numerical analysis I've seen from Bioware is a vague "trust us". Well, sorry BW, but I *don't* trust you.

Actually that only has been tested independantly for rogues.  I fail to see how limiting the damage that Lieutanents and Elites can take, and nerfing many CCC combos into near oblivion is going to make combat faster or mage or warrior Hawkes.  Even the Devs have admitted that many trees have been kneecapped, and we are asked to "trust them".  Well I don't.

do you remember who this intrepid soul was?

and if the update was anything other than 'i want to have his hawke babies', you have done us both a great injustice

'console is so much easier, you must be glitching the game, i hope microsoft bans you, how did you mod'

i get the biggest grin every time it happens

Went for lunch and violence ensued! Let's try to keep this specifically focused on discussion of Gameplay changes and less about the verbal attacks.

All I can say is that your opinions are valid to be sure but I think they are skewed by relativity; if DA2 had launched in this way and we patched it in the opposite way (to the way vanilla was) you would have severe issues in a different way. I ask that you play with it for a playthrough before you make a definitive judgment so you have time to adjust.

You thought wrong.  Feel free to revisit his posts for correction.  And I don't disagree with him, I just don't care.  I don't care about role playing, I think all that crap is really, really .  And he and you are entitled to think it's not, just bring it up in a thread where it's relevant.

Edit: he's staying on topic now.  I'll get off his nuts.

Its been tested for warriors and mages as well. Theres no theory-crafting involved.

If you want to know the two biggest reasons why, it has to do with the knockback changes(party DPS increases sharply when your allies stop being knocked around) and the lowered health(very noticable) on elites and bosses.

The buff to enemy health the higher level you are is very minor. I doubt the average player would even notice the health change until they were over level 30.... which is impossible to reach at this point in time.
