I'm joining the Darkspawn...

...better yet. The Qun. Once we take Tevinter we'll take everything else.

You'd best stay away from the Grey Wardens then, us Templar have some pretty cool tunes if you're looking for a new place to hang out.

I dunno. If I had a choice my Hawke would just hoof it up to Tevinter. I hear they do things proper there.

Well, I certainly do love [insert my favorite band here]! They are my favorite band! *joins Templars*

Ahh, reducing complex moral decisions down to the musical preferences of the different factions... is it election time already?

My own. I'm not sure sailing the seas on the Siren Call II counts as choosing a side. I tried siding with the mages but they made me wonder why I bothered.

Same.

My Hawke is too busy making love to a certain Rivainni pirate to bother with mages and templars again.

I'm with Anders. I want to invoke my own right of annulment on the templars. Not that I'd have a choice really, they'd make me kill them anyway on the way to retrieving Divine Justinia V for her execution.

Heck, I am just going to form my own band of "Assassins of Idiots".

So you'd support the Divine as she was planning on the same? :P

Then kill her and 75% of the Chantry, yes.

I'm on my Warden's side. Which is to say that I am in the Grey Warden's camp. Completely neutral, no obligation to anyone.

Besides, Grey Wardens are intelligent. In the second act if asked to stay and help with Kirkwall, their response was 'No way Jose. We're getting out of here as quickly as possible.'

Clearly these men were geniuses.

I'm on the side of the mages.

It is not right in any way to imprison anyone because they could commit crimes. The mages have been oppressed for 1000 years because some idiotic zealots misunderstood what a self-proclaimed prophetess said to justify her war.

The Chantry is worse than the Imperium now.

I'm torn between
1. Joining the Qun and starting a horsefarm or
2. Wandering into the deep roads to get my butt infected and go out in a blaze or be lucky enough to bump into some stray warden and get my ass turned for the sake of it.
3. Find some cave or rock to crawl in/under and sob like an infant.

Oh, thinking about it, maybe I should drag Sandal along for comic relief and some righteous slaying actually, he seems to do wonders without even trying.

The rest can kill eachother off, I'll be happy to return to meet the ones left standing.
Way too volatile to willingly stick my paws into anyways.

Blight smight. SIMPLE! Kill some darkspawn horde, kill a huge ass freaking dragon, done!
People, politics and a 1000 year struggle for dominance and freedom where desperate measures are already being used?
I don't knoooow =( Where's the auto-win world-peace button at?

Any side that would kill Hawke.

Where do I sign up?

Just tell me when and where i have to sign.

Normally this would be where I'd insert something about how it looks like some folks are bitter about not getting to play their warden ever again.  But the truth is, every time I see someone from this HoH (Haters of Hawke) faction it puts a smile on my face.  Why?  Because while not every single member of that faction hates hawke for that reason, it is almost guaranteed that at least one of them does.  And that alone is enough to brighten my day.

Some folks hate him/her for legitimate reasons.  And those opinions I can respect.  But if your reason for hating Hawke falls anywhere in or around the ballpark of:

A.) He/she's not my warden, why should I care?
B.) He/she's voiced...And then inserting some sort of lame Origins defense to justify it.
C.)  He/she doesnt feel like my character because of any combonation of A or B as well as attempting to defend some mechanic of some sort that was present in Origins and not DA2.

Anything other than those 3 is repsectable IMO.  Any reasoning that even remotely resembles any of those stated above falls into the afore mentioned category of being bitter because you'll never get to play your warden again.  But, extreme as it is, that's just my opinion.

Until some abominations blow up my village. Then I'm on the templars side.

I'm on the mages side.

Its naive and ridiculous assume that every mage wants to be a BLOOD Mage.

There will be mages fighting blood mages in this war. There will be non mages siding with mages.
Its NOT going to be Mage VS Regular folk.

Also...what people do when there aren't any mages around for healing?

The people who fear and want to oppress them are also hypocrites and would not hesitate to use a mage when they see fit.

I so agree. The "I hate Hawke!" bit is silly. The only legitimate reason I've seen boils down to plot railroading. And that's not Hawke's fault, that's the writer's fault. Several other characters suffer from it too. For example, Anders has a loving, supporting partner that always backs him up. Anders is always tagging along with somebody he borders on hating, who constantly preaches at him and actively tries to sabotage him. Both these roads end at him doing the exact same thing? What the hell ever. Bioware, if you want to do a linear and static story, that's fine. Really. Companies like SquareEnix are swimming in cash doing it. But don't give us options that in the end make no sense to the story and serve only to give the illusion we're being given a branching story when we're not. There's nothing wrong with Product A or Product B, but there is a lot wrong with marketing Product A as Product B.

On the other side of the coin. Voicing. I don't know why the people wanting a silent protagonist are ironically the most vocal crowd. I guess because we (fans of the voiced design) have our way and have no reason to speak up. But let me say I love the voiced dialogue. And everytime you see someone talking about how much they loved something witty Hawke said, they may or may not realize it but they're complimenting voiced dialogue as well. A great deal of the effect of comedy is in delivery. The few good funnies that the Warden got, such as "Not First in your class I take it?" would've been several magnitudes of funny higher if they were delivered by a pro.

That's crazy! Don't you know the fact they defended themselves with blood magic means they're evil? What, are you from some weird society where it's okay to defend oneself? :)

I'm on the side of those who stayed and fought for their country and cursed the backsides of cowards who fled to trash cities like Kirkwall.

Yeah - maybe I'd be dead when Teyrn Loghain betrays the King - or maybe I'd have ended up on Loghain's group depending on chance, but at least I could say that I tried to, as a certain salarian put it: "Hold the Line!"

I don't think things are a simple as picking a side anymore unfortunately. It's all gone to hell in a handbasket. If one guy picks up arms, so will another and another up till the point where someone starts shooting, and I think we're there =/
Imho, they're both wrong. Whether through cause or effect doesn't much matter when you look at the methods both sides are grasping at.

Let's see...

If I side with the Magi, I'm throwing my lot in with a group where every single member is a potential human bomb, open to possession.

If I side with the Templars, I'm siding with a bunch of fanatical drug addicts. Who might also be rapists/sadists/otherwise mean.

...I'm drinking Darkspawn blood and joining the Grey Wardens.

It's strange that you don't hear about mages raping other mages.

They're practically prison inmates. You'd think there would be *some* cases of this.
