I am researching for a small piece of fanfiction revolving around Orzammar and I am under some confusion over Paragons and Houses.  We are told when a Paragon is created, that Paragon then founds a house in his or her  name, however my confusion arises when it comes to the caste with which this house is associated.

Branka was a smith, yet when becoming a Paragon she and her house were elevated to Noble status.  So the house Branka was not smith, but noble.  However, how then can houses which are not noble exist?

Then take House Ivo (http://dragonage.wik.../wiki/House_Ivo) which appears to be a lesser warrior house, yet it was founded by the Paragon Ivo.  Why was Ivo and his house not elevated to Noble status?

Houses can probably gain or lose status if something drastic happens (but not drastic enough for exile). Paragon Ivo may have been closely tied to the original founder of the Warrior Caste and chose to remain in that caste for whatever reason.
Maybe house Ivo lost lots of money to another house.
Important family members may have married "down" to enough warriors to warrant an entire caste change.
At this point, I don't think we know enough about how dwarven Houses and caste shifting to really make solid conclusions about stuff like that.

I was under the impression that House Ivo was noble, if minor.

Non noble houses weren't founded by Paragons, I assume.
