Is it the position of the variable on the object?

I haven't really used these, but if I remember correctly it's the index of the variable as in that variable's number. So if you only had one variable set on something, it would be 1 (I think). Essentially it's treating all the variables on the object like an array, and this function is getting the "nIndex-th" variable.
